Kingsbridge Food and Music Festival 2016

The Kingsbridge Food and Music Festival returns for its 5th year on June 3rd and, as has been the case since its conception, we’re thrilled to be the official sponsor. As well as helping to fund the event, we also play a key role in helping organise, promote and manage the weekend, putting it close to all of our hearts and a key highlight on the summer calendar.

Held on Kingsbridge’s town square, the free festival runs from mid-afternoon on Friday June 3rd (music from 6pm) until around 6pm on Sunday 5th. Maximising the space available, the three day party includes a host of amazing food, 3 days of great live music and a designated Kids Zone, packed with entertainment for little ones.

Local drink producers Heron Valley, Sharpham and Salcombe Brewery will be selling their ranges of ciders, wines and ales respectively; while over 20 hot and cold food vendors will be on site to tempt the taste buds. Hot food stalls include Thai, Nepalese, Indian, Moroccan wraps, wood-fired pizza, roasted lamb, Red Ruby beef burgers and lots more.

This year’s music line-up includes Friday night headliner and arguably the world’s greatest David Bowie tribute, Jean Genie, whilst on Saturday night, hot Plymouth ska band The Kingstons head the bill. Other music comes from the highly-acclaimed Mafia 4, local rock band The Sheiks, motown from The Ferrantes, klezmer music from Hazaar, electronic art rockers Pattern Pusher and a wide range of acoustic, folk and rock bands.

While Friday and Saturday night are all about dancing, Sunday is a more relaxed affair and a great time to enjoy a lazy day of good food, drink and music, with performances from the Salcombe Gospel Choir, folk band Fly Yeti Fly, soul musicians Fuse before closing the weekend with a swing from The Sultans.

In the Kids Zone, local outdoor specialists Forest and Beach will be joined by a range of brilliant arts and crafts activities including Salcombe’s Paper Bird Island. There will also be a bouncy castle, face painting, fruit kebab making and much more!

The festival has become a firm favourite among both our guests and the South Hams residents so, if you’re in the neighbourhood, be sure to add it to your itinerary for the weekend.
