Slapton is a small quaint village just a stone's throw from the outstandingly beautiful stretch of coastline at Slapton Sands, from where you can enjoy sweeping sea views across Start Bay, from the mouth of the river Dart in the north across to the craggy cliffs that curve round to Start Point Lighthouse in the south.

Slapton village is a short stroll from Slapton Sands beach, a 6km stretch of pebble beach, fronted by Start Bay and backed by the stunning Slapton Ley National Nature Reserve - a large freshwater lake separated from the sea by a narrow strip of land, and home to many species of wildlife including otters, eels, dormice and a huge number of birds and insects.

Slapton village itself boasts two pubs, The Tower Inn which is renowned for its excellent food, and The Queen's Arms, which has a pretty garden providing the perfect spot for a refreshing beer, whilst a shop/Post Office, café and more pub/restaurants can be found at nearby Torcross. There are also many wonderful walks in the area - through unspoilt countryside, around the Slapton Ley, and along the spectacular South West Coast Path.

Slightly further along the coastal road towards Dartmouth, you'll find Blackpool Sands, one of the most popular beaches in Devon. Here, the golden sand and shingle beach, green pines cliffs, and turquoise waters conspire to exude an almost Mediterranean feel. This beautiful, family-friendly beach is great for windsurfing, paddle boarding and canoeing, and when hunger strikes, the beach-side Venus Café is a great place to refuel with a view.

The lively market town of Kingsbride is just 7 miles away and offers a good choice of independent shops, cafés and pubs, as well as two supermarkets for stocking up on essentials.

A holiday cottage in Slapton offers a good base for enjoying the breath-taking beauty of this special corner of South Devon.

Nice local pub. Not much room indoors to have a drink, but plenty of space outside. Food OK, but not brilliant. Spent £19.50 on one of the specials from the board (Hake with potatoes), but very small portion of fish, small portion of potatoes and the complete dish was very dry - no sauce. My wife has the burger which was overcooked.

September 2023

Wonderful pub, great food and really lovely staff. One of our party was not feeling well and our server was so helpful, even getting us takeout boxes for the meal they were unable to eat.

September 2023

Excellent food, great place

August 2023

Great food, nice outdoor seating, they are reasonably priced and in easy walking distance of our holiday cottage. They also do takeaway food which was ideal.

May 2023

After reading the reviews we were looking forward to our meal. Sadly it did not live up to expectations. Only one of our starters arrived, despite us saying twice we wanted two. This delayed the main courses, my partners was dry, a pizza and mine extremely dry, burnt round the edges, chips with pizza topping. My dish was was knocked off the bill which we did appreciate. The starter, filo prawns, was good. But as we watched the staff, off which there plenty it just looked disorganised, so much toing and froing with empty hands, all pleasant enough, but not very effective. At one stage the chef came out serving meals. We had called in for a drink the day before, very nice beer garden to the rear of the pub

May 2023

Didn’t eat at this pub, but a lovely friendly pub, visited here a couple of times, everyone so friendly and made you feel very welcome

Awesome pub, really friendly and a great garden. Love it, wish it was my local.

May 2021

Convivial local pub but menu at present rather covid-constrained.

October 2020

Recommend the steak and blue cheese pizza. Friendly staff

Excellent Sunday lunch, vegetarian option with all the trimmings. Great service, clean and COVID safe, tables well spaced. Would return - also do take away service but sadly no desserts at the moment.

October 2020

Fantastic pub - lovely food, and friendly staff and locals. Would’ve gone back more if they were open every day

August 2020

Friendly local pub with real ale. Pizzas were excellent.

October 2019

We had a wonderful evening meal at this pub. The bar was busy with locals so a friendly atmosphere and there was plenty of space in the restaurant area. Apart from the pub classics, there was a good choice on the Specials' board. We liked the range of local ales and ciders on offer as well as the gin of the month offer. Excellent food and good value for money.

June 2019

First visit since last landlords retired. New owners have changed the look of the interior, clean and welcoming, as are the staff! Food is good quality and priced to please. Bubble and Squeak a lovely surprise at one lunchtime!

Now called "Kendricks". Fish and chips very good. Burger average, neither very bad, nor very good. Very efficient, attentive staff.

September 2023

Excellent food, great place

August 2023

The service was generally good, but as we took our dog we were seated in the bar area. Whilst it was great that we could take our dog, there was no atmosphere. The main restaurant had a lovely view etc with more people. The food was just ok. My husband had ribs and they were quite dry. I had a chicken burger which was very small for the price. The children’s meals were good value however.

May 2023

We visited Radius 7 twice when we stayed at Seaview Nest. Had fish and chips then the half rack of ribs, both delicious meals. Loved the atmosphere, relaxed with back ground music. The waitresses were very friendly and helpful. The owner took time to speak to us making sure we were happy with our meal.

September 2022

Our family had a really lovely meal here. The service was good and the food was excellent. The fact that we had a job to get a table and had to eat in the bar next to a busy road, hence only four stars, showed how popular this place was. We would have liked to come back to eat in the Dining Room but there wasn't time. Highly recommended.

August 2022

My 10 year old daughter said they were the best fish and chips she's ever tasted!

June 2022

Belly pork starter was delicious.

June 2021

We enjoyed a lovely meal at Radius 7. The service and food were both very good, the market fish special was excellent. Booking is essential. We booked about 10 days ahead for a Saturday evening and were only offered 5pm or 5.15pm. Although we were lucky to have a window table and we were able to see the coast in the distance, it cannot be described as having fantastic sea views.

June 2021

We popped in on the "off chance", the staff were great and found us a table - had the best fish and chips ever!

June 2021

Friendly staff, good atmosphere and popular. On the night we went we were disappointed not to have a local, fresh fish option on the menu/specials board.

October 2020

Friendly place. We had a lovely takeaway there on two occasions. Recommend it.....

October 2020

Delicious Sunday lunch and very accommodating staff. Omg - the crackling.....!!!!! ????

August 2020

Had an excellent meal here with friendly service. Food was locally sourced and imaginative menu.

October 2019

Good food though slightly haphazard waiting staff

August 2019

We had a wonderful take away from this restaurant. There was an amazing choice of food. The fish was so fresh and everything cooked to order.Great value for money too!

June 2019

One hour forty minutes for two courses, so very slow, but the food is excellent. Child friendly.

August 2018

Excellent hosts and food is amazing in choice and quality with a wide cocktail & drinks menu, highly recommend

July 2018

Very good food service a little slow but food made up for it

great cream teas - scones are huge, one tea is plenty for 2 people. Love the tables in the bay windows.

October 2021

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here. The food was delicious and the service was very professional.

August 2021

Really liked this place, as it opens at 8.00am (unusual for Dartmouth) and provides an excellent coffee and croissant, or coffee and cake, (alongside their full breakfast menu, not sampled). Very relaxing for a slow start of a morning, reading the papers.

May 2021

Blackpool Sands
Blackpool Sands
(Less than a mile)

(35)

Between Dartmouth and Slapton, Blackpool Sands is a beautiful shingle bay on the South West Coast Path, surrounded by evergreens and pine trees. It really is a treasure of a beach to visit while you’re in the area. Award-winning, the privately owned, blue flag beach boasts a sense of being in the Mediterranean on a good day in the summer, although a good jumper never goes amiss in this part of the world! You will no doubt not be surprised to hear that it is in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, however it also boasts ample facilities and things to do. There are showers, toilets and disabled facilities, as well as paddle board, kayak and wetsuit hire available for those wishing to earn their visit to The Venus Beach Café, where light bites and refreshments are served. The Venus Shop also sells all the bits and pieces you might want for fun and games on the beach if you have forgotten them or are in need of extra buckets and spades. The water at Blackpool Sands is known for being clean and clear and tested by the Environment Agency, and lifeguards are on hand in the summer (July to September) so there’s every reason to pop in for a dip. However, dogs are not allowed on the beach in the high season (12th March to 30th October) so keep the walking for the cooler months. There is parking available at the beach with seasonal charges, and you can find out more information on those from the Blackpool Sands information line on 01803 771800. This beach is easy to get to and quite literally fun and games for the whole family, as well as a beautiful place to visit at any time of the year to take in the view!

Looks a lovely beach but unfortunately no dogs allowed at all

June 2023

Visited Blackpool sands on our honeymoon 27 years ago and have enjoyed it on both occasions. A lovely clean beach with a very nice restaurant/cafe. We walked to the beach and got the local bus back up to Stoke Fleming.

May 2023

we love this beach always clean good parking clean facilities and good cafe.

September 2022

We did go to this beach, couldn’t go in the sea as it was so rough, was beautiful though. No sand, but still very nice.

September 2022

Beautiful beach; very blue water. It’s more a pebbly rather than a sandy beach, love it all the same. It’s clean and there are lifeguards in the summer months which is when we visited. The toilets were clean and not far from the beach; no queues for the toilet either. Parking can be a bit pricey at £9 for the whole day of you come in the morning but didn’t mind it. You pay less though if you come in the afternoon. The is a little sandpit area for a any kids who want to play in sand

September 2022

It is a really beautiful beach although, despite its name, it is not a sandy beach, however our son and grandson were keen on paddle boarding. They made a special visit for this and were told that the paddleboard facilities were closed but to come the following day when the facilities were still closed! Considering that this was during the height of the holiday season, my son was a bit put out having made two wasted trips.

August 2022

Lovely sandy beach. Parked here (£2) whilst doing a circular walk and then returned for a walk along the beach.

November 2020

Dogs allowed on beach out of season, a bracing walk with coffee and millionaire shortbread at the cafe to finish.

October 2020

Great beach really beautiful , even in the rain, as the Venus café is right on the beach and is warm, dry and serves great food and drinks at reasonable prices.

October 2019

One of our favourite beaches, in a beautiful setting. Plenty of car parking and plenty of room on the beach, even on a busy day. The sea is clean and clear and the facilities are excellent (nice to have changing rooms). Thoroughly recommend this beach.

October 2019

Beautiful stretch of shingle beach nestled between steep hills at either end. Excellent facilities including one of the best beach cafes we've ever visited.

September 2019

We had a wonderful day at Blackpool sands. A shingle beach within a lovely cove, it was clean and felt safe for the children to swim in the water (which was also sparkling). The beach is privately run, so the carpark fee was a bit stiff (£8 for the day), however the upside of this was a beautifully clean beach with lots of amenities, including rental of SUPs and other water equipment, a great cafe, and really clean loos. On a busy day you would need to arrive before lunchtime, or the carpark will shut, but this also means that the beach didn't feel crowded at all.

September 2019

Parking charge between £3 - £8 depending on time of year, Also food good but e.g. Hawaiian Prawns (£9) consisted of 5 prawns. Not good value for money.

October 2018

Lovely beach, not sandy but the stones are okay. Good food, beverages, coast guards, Nice view and not so cowded

August 2017

Beautiful location but shame it a shingle beach and not sandy. Also very disappointed with the £8 fee to park the car .

August 2017

Slapton Sands
Slapton Sands
(5 miles)

(28)

A long stretch of beach with spectacular views of the sea stretching into the distance, Slapton Sands is in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and for good reason. Adjacent to Slapton Ley, a freshwater lake that’s home to an abundance of wildlife and one of the many reasons people come to visit the area, the beach has a history of welcoming families in the summer for long days in the sunshine, building sandcastles, surfing, windsurfing and kayaking. It’s amazing to believe that this peaceful corner of South Devon has its place in military history as in 1943 the beach was taken over by allied forces to use as a rehearsal area for the D-Day landings. However, live ammunition and poor visibility ended in the deaths of more than 700 servicemen, so today there is a stone monument in place for Operation Tiger, as it was called, as well as a Sherman Tank at nearby Torcross. On a more current note, there is a beachside café at Slapton Sands for teas, coffees and other light bites, and there are also toilets nearby. The beach has disabled access, and also allows dogs throughout the year, so it really is fun for everyone and very easy to get to. There is parking nearby and in the summer months from May to September there is lifeguard cover. Last, but not least, a small collection of pubs reside in Torcross for those who are feeling peckish after a long day in the fresh air, or if you have been for a nice walk along the sand!

Fab stretch of beach - quite a trek from one end to another, you’ll need a drink from the coffee van at Pilchard Cove or cafes in Torcross! Over the hill from Torcross to bee sands has an amazing view

August 2023

A stunning coastline well worth a visit. If you drive along the coast road from Dartmouth the views are incredible. Slapton Sands is a shingle beach and dog friendly. If the first car park is busy continue further on and the next one is usually quieter, payment required.

July 2023

Visited here out of respect for those who practiced the D-Day landings on this beach. If venturing doen to the sea from the car park please note it was hard getting back up as you sink into the stones, so not so good for those with any mobility issues.

July 2023

Beautiful pebbly beach, water was so clear!

June 2023

We visited on a very overcast day with a keen wind blowing, so we did not see the sands at their best. We walked into Slapton and had tea in the church and found a pleasant footpath back to the beach car park, which ran past the nature reserve at Slapton Ley.

September 2021

A beautiful, gentle walk along the side of the nature reserve, if you make it to the turn off to go into Slapton, there is a lovely pub up there, the Queens Arms great gardens, food and friendly staff.

September 2021

Absolutely stunning stretch of beach (non-sandy which we prefer) with miles of space. Beautiful for early morning dog walks with a coffee at the end from the 'cafe on the beach' at Strete Gate picnic area.

May 2021

Walked along the beach and round the Nature reserve whilst staying in Slapton village. Lovely long shingle beach - our dog loved it. Lovely circular walk through the medieval village and back through the Nature reserve and along the beach.

November 2020

Ample parking, nice walk along the beach.

October 2020

Beautiful beach with a stunning sunrise. The sound of the sea on the pebbles is very relaxing. Really clean . No rubbish . Beautiful walks nearby. Nice cafe and restaurants. Dog friendly too.

September 2020

We have had lovely walks along Clapton and the views are stunning

February 2020

If you love the sound of the waves on pebbles this has to be one of the best beaches in the world !

April 2019

A totally unspoilt stretch of beach with wild flowers and wonderfully coloured rocks. We were lucky to be staying on a stones throw away and spent a few happy hours there with our dog watching the locals beach fishing in the evenings - bliss!

August 2018

Lovely walking -

June 2018

Lovely walk for wild flowers, bird watching sea views

May 2018

Clean beach.No plastic.

May 2018

This is certainly a lovely beach and so little rubbish.

April 2018

Really interesting area and good walks along the coast and by the Ley. Generous provision of toilets and parking and a number of places to eat. Would particularly recommend The Start Bay Inn, The Boathouse and Seabreeze Cafe at Torcross. Also very handy that there is a bus should you want to walk one way and get a bus back. Very beautiful and peaceful.

October 2017

Beautiful beach right across from our Cottage

September 2017

Wonderful nature reserve with well signposted walks.

September 2017

Beautiful stretch of shingle beach - dogs allowed all year. Not many facilities - we went to the Strete end of the beach as there is a great little coffee hut there - great coffee and friendly staff.

September 2017

Clapton Sands is beautiful. The rocks are the most beautiful colours, wild flowers abound on the beach, the views in either direction are stunning and it is rarely over crowded. One of the most wonderful areas in the U.K.

May 2017

Great place for a walk along the beach and had some great events for children at Easter. Great fish and chips in the pub at the end on Torcross

Beesands
Beesands
(6 miles)

(45)

Close to Kingsbridge and a favourite amongst residents and holiday makers in the South West, Beesands is a wonderful mile-long shingle beach surrounded by fields and a freshwater lake. You get a real flavour of the West Country here with fresh crab sandwiches for sale nearby and lots of Devon holiday cottages within walking distance to make it really convenient. The beach has won awards from the Marine Conservation Society as well as having The Blue Flag marker to attest to its excellence and high standards, so families and swimmers can be reassured. The beach is popular for surfing and body boarding amongst other water sports including fishing, so tackle is on sale close by. You can pick up light bites at nearby cafes as and when you’re ready, making it easy to spend the whole day running around on the sand and enjoying your seaside holiday to the max. Beesands is very much a beach for everyone thanks to its convenient location, easy and free road parking along most of the beach, level access, and the toilets, cafes and pubs close by. Dogs are also welcome on the beach throughout the year so the whole family can enjoy it!

Gorgeous coastal walk from South Hallsands to Beesands. Not too strenuous for my mini dacshund. Well worth a visit with rocks / coves at the far end.

September 2023

Stunning beach, fantastic sunset.

August 2023

Great place for an evening drink - beach not very suitable for children .

August 2023

We stayed for a week in a house opposite the beach in Beesands. The beach is a pebble beach and is very quiet. There is no lifeguard but there are locals there everyday with their boats so I am sure they would let you know if the conditions were unsafe. There is a fish and chip shop/restaurant and 1 pub restaurant - both serving lovely food and offer very friendly service. There is very little nearby so you do need a car to get around. Nearest supermarket was around 20-30 minute car ride away. The kids went in the sea almost every day and had the best time! They wore full wetsuits and water shoes which I thoroughly recommend as it is a pebble beach, and the kids got stung by a jelly fish when they paddled without wetsuits. When the tide was in, or coming in, the kids felt safer as they were in their depth. When the tide is out, there is a ledge which drops quite sharply. I am not a fan of sand so sitting on my camping chair on the pebble beach was bliss for me. We even spotted seals on most days! The locals with their boats didn't seem too friendly but we loved watching them take their boats out and bring them back in again. It was fascinating. I would have loved to ask them more about the beach, tides and coastal erosion but they didn't seem very approachable. However, I do appreciate that they must find tourists a little irritating. I would absolutely go back to Beesands for a holiday. It is my idea of blissful relaxation.

August 2023

Friendly, quiet location and shingle beach. Nice beach walk to Torcross at low tide. Pub/restaurant and Britannia restaurant and takeaway were very good. Very narrow roads to Beesands from turning off main road, but enjoyable holiday

June 2023

Just lovely. Excellent food at Britannia on the beach and they also have an excellent takeaway

August 2022

Pleasant place to visit

July 2022

Absolute delight to stay in this quiet little seaside village! Mostly holiday let properties nowadays but still some locals around to talk to about the history of the area. The village is extremely clean including the beach considering it is all dog friendly! Popular with local & travelling anglers mainly at weekends I also fished to some degree every day of our stay. We will be going back soon!

July 2022

Had a lovely walk. Beautiful setting.

June 2022

lovely location, enjoyed many morning walks along the beach, and caught 14 mackerel. The road access is not the best, drive slowly, you cannot do anything else, and hey who's in a rush on holiday

May 2022

Loved Beesands, we stayed in one of the cottages for a week and enjoyed the peace and quiet and strolling along the beach, very dog friendly to!

May 2022

October 2021

Lovely clean dog-friendly beach and an easy walk from Clover Cottage and over to Torcross too

September 2021

Lovely quiet and dog friendly beach with good facilities. Good place to walk from to nearby beaches.

July 2021

The actual usable beach is a fair walk from the village ( parking not allowed as the beach fronting the village no longer exists due to flood defences

June 2021

much less busy than most local beaches (because it is shingle) but great for kids above toddler age. lovely walks in both directions, eg to Torcross for chips or to Start Point for views. Easy parking and a good beach shack cafe and take away

June 2021

Nice village on the coast

December 2020

14 Beesands is a great property. About 10 feet away from the beach/ sea wall. Pub 20 paces away. Lovely walks on the doorstep. Fabulous sunsets and seals swimming past. Who could ask for more. Well equipped cottage, very comfy beds cosy and warm

October 2020

The most wonderful little fishing village- narrow lanes on approach so drive carefully- but it's worth it. Lovely shingle beach and stunning views across Start Bay. Two great eateries- Britannia and The Cricket Inn are worth a visit. Beesands is just beautiful, I love it there.

September 2020

Amazing location right on the beach. We spent a week in Beesands and found the property to be perfect for our big group - plenty of space for everyone to relax and a very well appointed kitchen. Would highly recommend.

September 2020

Beautiful setting and lovely property decorated to a high standard, well equipped and perfect place for a getaway to peace and quiet. Short distance to the beach. Would definitely return. We had a super weekend at this property celebrating a family birthday

January 2020

Beautiful relaxing place to spend time.

November 2019

Lovely little beach, nice quiet location and free parking a bonus

August 2019

Worth the uphill/downhill walk along the coast path. Lovely spot.

August 2019

Easy to park, good food options. plenty of room for everyone.

August 2019

I love Beesands . The only sad thing is even more people have found out about it, 10 years since my last visit. Sadly the sea has removed the road handy for parking and is gradually eroding the cliff edges. Not as quiet as it used to be but the attractions of two nice eating places have probably increased the footfall.

June 2019

It’s a new look on the outside but the food very much of the same high quality at the Britannia in Beesands. The new ‘shack’ doesn’t really do it justice with a completely renovated contemporary dining room in keeping with the seaside location and beach hut vibe with excellent views of the bay. There seems to be loads more space too and the higher ceiling gives light to the treats being served from the kitchen. Dave and the team in the kitchen maintain their high standards of food preparation and making dishes that look and taste fantastic, the front of house team are equally as attentive making a great relaxed dining experience. I would have no hesitation in recommending breakfast, lunch or dinner at the Britannia so come back if you have been before and see the changes or give it a go if you never have been. ????????

June 2019

I've been coming to Beesands since I was 2 years old (61 now!). Not every year since adulthood but still can't stay away. Its an ideal location for those who want to get away from it all. Its close enough to Kingsbridge and within easy reach of Dartmouth , Salcombe and Brixham. The locals are very friendly and will always be up for a chat. Its almost tempting to keep this little coastal secret to myself!

October 2018

Bit scary driving down to the beach due to the narrow road but worth it when you got there. Had fish and chips and ate them on the tables that were provided while looking out to sea.

September 2018

Had a wonderful meal in the beach cafe .

July 2018

We've been coming to this general area for over 20 years now and have stayed in many of the surrounding villages . This was the first time we'd stayed in Beesands - but we had walked through it on our coastal walks on many, many occasions. We both loved the peaceful charm of the place - secluded , tranquil and away from it all . But unlike Hallsands (next village along) , it does have two places where you can eat ( The cricket Inn and the Britannia0)and they are both very good . The beach is great - shingle - but really uncrowded in June . ( We were lucky with the weather) and on a clear, sunny day - it is quite magical. ( What a shame the water is so freezing cold !!) This stretch of coastline is stunning - and even if you do no other walks - walk over to Hallsands and read about the old village that was washed away in January 1917 - or just drink in the stunning views . I love this part of Devon and it never fails to take my breath away when you stand on the coast path near the lighthouse and look back across Start Bay to Hallsands , Beesands , Torr Cross , and over towards Dartmouth. Wonderful.

June 2018

Beautiful stoney beach with views of Start Point Lighthouse. Tasty fish and chips available, popular pub and public toilets.

June 2018

Lovely place, good food and very dog friendly :-)

March 2018

Britannia Fish - Great fish - always fresh and lovely family run business. A must for anyone who likes eating good fish!

May 2017

Ideal for quiet and peaceful holiday with two good restaurants both of which are dog friendly.

Elberry Cove
(6 miles)

(1)

Far from the bustling crowds of Paignton and Brixham’s bigger beaches, this small pebbly cove is a truly relaxing spot. The calm waters are great for swimming and are said to have been one of Agatha Christie’s favourite bathing spots. Elberry Cove even features in one of her crime thriller novels, The ABC Murders. This picture-perfect cove, surrounded by sloping wooded hillsides and crystal clear water, can only be accessed by the coast path, with the nearest carpark at Broadsands Beach. From here, it is only a 10 - 15 minute walk, but make sure to pack a picnic or grab a bite to eat at Broadsands Beach before you set off, as there aren’t any facilities at here. Dogs are welcome on the beach throughout the year.

Lovely quieter beach, dog and BBQ friendly. We had teens that hired kayaks from nearby Broadsands beach and paddled around the coast to meet us. Very accomodating kayak hire and not too expensive.

August 2018

Broadsands Beach
(6 miles)

In between Brixham and Paignton, this long, sandy beach is a popular spot with families, thanks to its sheltered waters, year-round facilities and easy parking. The Blue Flag beach is perfect for making sandcastles and searching for wildlife in the rockpools. There are toilets, and two places to get ice creams, coffees and soft drinks. What’s more, the car park is right by the beach, so there’s no need to lug your provisions a long way. Behind the pretty row of colourful beach huts, there’s a large grassy area, so don’t forget to pack a ball or rounders bat to keep the whole family entertained. Broadsands Beach is a popular dog walking spot throughout autumn and winter, but there is a seasonal dog ban during the summer months (1st May - 30th September).

July 2023

Enjoyable stay but property was too dark downstairs with little natural light. Would also have preferred more accessible windows upstairs as they were all velux windows

August 2022

We really enjoyed our stay as the facilities at the cottage were great. We were able to explore lots of local beaches. Amazing cafes and restaurants within easy reach.

July 2022

We had a great stay and loved the cottage and gardens.

June 2022

yes really enjoyed stay, location a little remote, but we were aware of this when we booked as we know the area very well. Service from THC really good

June 2022

Too secluded for us and roads are a nightmare. Car damaged in Slapton. Wouldn’t return. Not for us

July 2021

Some parts of the cottage had not been cleaned very well - small boxes in the bedroom had a build up of dust in them that had been there a while. I would certainly say a disclaimer needs to be attached to this property as well - we were not aware of how remote the property was - country roads are fine but these are single file country roads which not only caused a great amount of distress coming in and out of the property but we have also scratched our car in a number of places due to the hedges and also another car speeding down these roads and clipping our side mirror. If we had known we could of made this decision on whether it was worth the risk staying at the property or not. The cottage was nice and the gardens were beautiful as well.

Thank you for your feedback, all comments are passed to the owners and housekeepers, we do try to guide guests as to the location of properties using the map facility on the website the property is exactly pinpointed and it is noted in the description that Buckland Court is 1.5 miles from Slapton village as we know being so rural at this tranquil spot is not to everyones' taste. The Devon lanes are famously narrow and winding, and we have provided some helpful tips on our website (https://www.toadhallcottages.co.uk/blog/country-lane-driving-tips/) to try and assist guests in learning to love and navigate these picturesque but sometimes challenging country lanes. We are so pleased you enjoyed the cottage and gardens, and hope to welcome you back to another Toad Hall property in the future, one of our holiday specialist teams will be happy to assist you in finding a property so you can enjoy your holiday as much as we would like you too.

- The Toad Hall Team

May 2021

It was more rural than we anticipated. From the information we thought the property was nearer to Slapton

December 2020

We did enjoy our stay. Good location and a fine property for 2 guests. Cosy and provided all required facilities.

September 2020

Dusty and cobwebs in the property. Quite dated upstairs but still comfortable.

July 2020

Thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful cottage. We have had such a fab, chilled out week. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the local area, spending time at the beach and eating at the local pub. The cottage was perfect, so beautiful and very well equipped. The girls enjoyed running around the garden. We are so grateful to you, thank you.

August 2019

On arrival the bath plug was completely blocked with hair and required cleaning, much of the crockery also required washing before use. We also had an issue with the bath leaking that caused some of the plaster in the stairway to fall off during our stay. The leaking bath was fixed quickly after I reported it.

June 2019

We had a lovely stay at Acorn Cottage. With regard to location, we usually stay at Tilly’s Tuckaway which is a little more convenient but we enjoyed the peace and quiet at Acorn Cottage even though the location wasn’t quite right for us in terms of walking to places.

April 2019

Yes, very much. Our only critique would be the loss of internet access for the last 2 days which was reported but not fixed.

April 2019

Beautiful cottage. Home away from home. Will highly recommend

July 2018

We really enjoyed our peaceful stay. But were a little disappointed by the location which is hard to get away from except by car. Otherwise it was quite nice after long days of rambling through the countryside.

June 2018

The welcome bottle of wine was very much appreciated. We loved the location and our granddaughter really enjoyed her first holiday in Devon. Thank you

April 2018

Lovely place and grounds. Ideal for Slapton.

September 2017

We loved our stay here and would definitely stay again, I would definitely recommend it to others not only a lovely cosy well equipped cottage but has a beautiful setting with lots for children to explore in a beautiful area, it is close to the beach and great pubs with fab food couldn't ask for more
