This absolutely gorgeous little detached cottage, 16th century in origin, is a truly romantic hideaway! Buried in glorious countryside and surrounded by 4 acres of wild, informal but beautiful gardens and woods, recognised by the National Garden Scheme, the cottage is alongside the owners’ home, has its own large private area of garden, is very tastefully decorated with delightful personal touches and has an extensive library. Close to Dartmoor National Park, famous for its rugged beauty, the Two Moors Walk and the glorious Teign valley, where a visit to Castle Drogo is highly recommended, the cottage is also close to the A30, giving easy access to the whole South West.

Property reviews for Bothy

Rated 4.5/5 based on 13 reviews

The owner, Michael Pell, was very helpful, especially when there were two power cuts! Not his fault. We would respectfully suggest that he upgrades the sofa. We are both tall and did not find it very comfortable. Otherwise excellent. The bed was very comfortable.

An exceptional property in fantastic gardens in a truly peaceful setting

A really relaxing stay in a little corner of paradise.

The Bothy is a joy and we will certainly be looking to go back and also use the website again in the future

Michael and Penny have created our idea of a UK holiday heaven. The Bothy should have gold medals galore but at the same time its the best kept secret, we always want to be able to book again. Our dog loved it too!

The Bothy is a charming and cosy venue. We and our small dog were made most welcome and the owners could not have been more helpful. The welcome hamper was much appreciated. We hope to return in more clement weather!

We feel pretty safe with toad hall !

We had a wonderful Holiday at the Bothy. Michael & Penny were great hosts and made us and our dog feel extremely welcome. I would highly recommend the Bothy for a relaxing week. The selection of books to read in the library was extensive and varied and the location is handy for Dartmoor and the Coast. The Cottage & gardens are beautiful and a testament to the hard work of the hosts. Thank you again for a superb Holiday.

The Bothy

What a fantastic idyllic place to spend a few days, wonderful hospitality and lovely owners... One of those holidays where you have time, space and peace to work out what you're going to do with the rest of your life!! Even our 17 year old dog was rejuvenated having spent a week with the resident pooch....

The people at the Bothy are brilliant. Perfect place to relax and think.
