If a Cornish beach break is what you’re dreaming of, choose a holiday in Treyarnon Bay, a sheltered, beachy hamlet tucked around the corner from the more popular Constantine Bay on the north Atlantic coast.

A cluster of cottages surrounding a golden sandy beach backed by sand dunes and low lying cliffs, holidays in Treyarnon Bay are the type where you can watch the waves whilst sipping your morning coffee, be the first ones on the beach in the morning and the last to leave as the sun sets over the sea, knowing your holiday cottage is only steps away.

Treyarnon Bay is one of the best family beaches in the area, so it’s the perfect place for holidays with kids. There’s plenty of soft sand for building sandcastles and rockpools teeming with crabs, shrimps and mermaid’s purses, as well as lifeguard cover and brilliant waves for bodyboarding. Bigger kids will love swimming in the sea pool, which traps water as the tide goes out, and there’s a seasonal beach shop selling all the essentials, from Cornish pasties and ice cream to bodyboards, wetsuits and beach equipment. Treyarnon Bay is also dog-friendly all year round, so no one has to miss out on the fun.

This beautiful beach makes up one of the famous ‘seven bays for seven days’ found along this stretch of coastline, so you can spend every day of your holiday in Treyarnon Bay ticking another one off the list. Walking the South West Coast Path is our favourite way to discover the seven bays, where you’ll be treated to stunning sea views and possibly spot pods of dolphins and playful seals. Keen surfers will be spoilt for choice as nearly all of the beaches along the part of the coastline offers great surfing conditions, consistent swell and several surf schools, including Constantine Bay which is reputed to be one of the best places to surf in Cornwall.

When it comes to food and drink, you can head to the nearby village of St Merryn which has a bakery, fish and chip shop and a selection of pubs and restaurants. But the beauty of a holiday in Treyarnon Bay is that you’re also only 15 minutes away from the food-heaven harbour town of Padstow, loved for its celebrity chefs, fresh seafood and Michelin star restaurants.

For rainy days, Treyarnon Bay is only a short drive from Newquay and its array of all weather attractions, including a cinema, the Blue Reef Aquarium and Newquay Zoo.

Book a holiday in Treyarnon Bay and enjoy a proper Cornish beach break filled with soft sand, stunning views and spectacular sunsets.

National Lobster Hatchery
(5 miles)

The National Lobster Hatchery is a unique organisation whose work in conservation, research and education separates them because they work specifically with a commercial species.  A charity based in Padstow, their work helps to make lobster sustainable in the UK, as the species alone is worth an estimated £30m a year. Both the Scandinavian and Mediterranean stocks have completely collapsed, so the hatchery aims to ensure global food security for future generations by facilitating the survival rate of eggs in the wild.  When you visit you can learn all about their work and support conservation.  They are open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10.15am, but opening times are seasonal so keep an eye on the website.  Prices are £12 for adults or £6 for children.
