Located in the sleepy hamlet of Rosenannon near Wadebridge, Trelawney Cottage provides very spacious and comfortable accommodation for up to 8 people.

Surrounded by lovely countryside, this dog friendly property is the perfect base for some well deserved family rest and relaxation.

The bustling town of Wadebridge with two screen cinema, high street and choice of supermarkets, cafes, pubs and restaurants is just a fifteen minute drive away.

Wadebridge can also boast direct access onto the Camel bicycle trail to either Padstow in one direction or Bodmin in the other.  There are plenty of bicycle hire shops to accommodate your needs including pull along trailers for hire to suit the younger and four legged members of the family.

Slightly further afield but still less than a half hours drive is the famous fishing harbour at Padstow with a wealth of fabulous beaches close by including Harlyn Bay, Treyarnon and Constantine. In the opposite direction and within a similar half hours drive is the family favourite and popular surfing beach at Polzeath.

Staying at Trelawney Cottage really does give you the best of both worlds with the glorious Cornish countryside literally on your doorstep and sandy beaches and bustling villages and towns within a short drive.

Rosenannon Downs (acres of gorgeous Cornish moorland) is just a few minutes walk away and great for exercising the dogs.  NB - Please remember to keep dogs under control when walking in this area as moorland animals may be present.

Entrance

Entered from the front of the property. Entering into hallway with a handy WC.

Kitchen / Dining Room

A large kitchen/diner is next with farmhouse table and chairs for family meals and get-togethers. The kitchen is well equipped with a variety of appliances at your disposal including dishwasher, electric range cooker with ceramic hob, under counter fridge and television!  A further fridge with freezer can be found in the utility room just off the kitchen complete with washing machine. There is access to the garden via a stable door from the utility room.

Sitting Room

Beyond the kitchen is the first of two sitting rooms with easy seating. The second sitting room (3 steps down) is larger with heaps of comfy seating set around a feature fireplace with wood burner and large wall mounted SMART television. A pair of French doors lead out from this room into the garden.

**Carpeted stairs with handrail lead up from the hallway

Bedroom 1

A huge master bedroom with television plus shower and basin ensuite (no WC) has lovely views out across the countryside to the back. There are three carpeted steps down into this exceptionally large bedroom with super king (6ft) bed.

Bedroom 2

Next is a sizeable bedroom with standard double bed in it, again with views.

Bedroom 3 & 4

The two smaller but comfortable twin bedrooms complete the sleeping accommodation. Once again, both these bedrooms benefit from lovely views out across the neighbouring fields.

**All bedrooms are carpeted and have ample hanging and drawer space between them.

Bathroom

The family bathroom WC with bath and separate shower cubicle.

Heating

The property is efficiently heated by oil central heating complimented by the wood burner to the main family sitting room.

Outside, the lawn garden wraps around the side and rear of the property with uninterrupted views out over the fields. The garden is enclosed so long as the gate to the driveway is shut.  Some garden furniture is provided.

One of North Cornwall’s main market towns, Wadebridge is an excellent base from which to discover the county. The town sits on the Camel Trail giving both cyclists and walkers access to over 18 miles of largely traffic-free paths in some of the most spectacular countryside in the South West, as well as to the sea at neighbouring Padstow.

Wadebridge acts as a hub for many popular Cornish towns and villages, with a good mix of shops, market and a varied calendar of events including the Royal Cornwall Show and The Cornwall Folk Festival.

Nearby Padstow is a popular seaside resort and home to the National Lobster Hatchery, Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant and other Michelin Star restaurants. The picturesque coastal town is reminiscent of a bygone era, with many fishing vessels sitting in the bay, white washed houses and cosy taverns and cafés.

Bodmin Moor is also easily accessible from Wadebridge along the Camel Trail offering miles of walking across rugged moorland, steeped in mythical legends. Tintagel Castle, said to be the birthplace of King Arthur, is just a short drive away. The castle ruins are perched on top of dramatic cliffs and are well worth a visit for the views alone.

For those seeking out a beach, Wadebridge offers good access to some of the best beaches in the country with the popular surfing beaches at Newquay close by, as well as the quieter beaches of Polzeath and Harlyn Bay.

A holiday cottage in Wadebridge offers the ideal base for exploring the stunning coast, countryside and moors of North Cornwall.

St Breock Downs Monolith
(2 miles)

(1)

An English Heritage site, St Breock Downs Monolith is a massive stone that stands near the summit of the St Breock Downs, offering beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and across to the sea.  It is the largest and heaviest monolith in Cornwall, and dates back to the late Neolithic/mid-Bronze Age (around 2500–1500 BC).   You can visit any time in reasonable daylight hours and it’s free of charge, however there aren’t any facilities or coffee shops when you’re there, so it’s not one to stay at all day.

Rock Beach
(7 miles)

(1)

Rock beach is a beautiful long white sand beach located on the mouth of the Camel Estuary. This Area of Outstanding natural beauty is a haven for wading birds and the prefect spot for a swim in the clear blue waters or a picnic admiring the fantastic views. The beach is backed by sand dunes, please try to avoid walking on the dunes and keep to the footpaths where provided as there has been a huge amount of erosion in recent years. Dogs are welcome on the beach all year round and there is easy access to shops and all facilities including public toilets. Parking can be found in the car park just behind and access is via a ferry slipway or steps.

Mawgan Porth beach is amazing it’s less busy than Newquay beach but still has great waves for surfing. It’s a large sandy beach and it feels spacious. This beach is dog friendly all year round so it’s the perfect choice for families with fury friends. Plus the nearby pub and restaurant is also dog friendly.

Let's tackle the two downsides first. The narrow single track lane descending to the car park ican be challenging at busy times. The other one - the sheltered position means no waves for boarding. Great sandy beach, safe for kids with a good size car park and easy access down to the sands. Great views over the Doom Bar. Easy to walk down to Rock Beach and St Enodoc's church is worth a visit.

The pictures don’t do it justice. The house is gorgeous, very spacious, warm and comfortable. We had wet and windy weather so we stayed in more than we usually would but none of us mind. The kids had plenty of space to play and the living room has a decent sized smart tv to watch films on. It’s also in a good location where you can easily get to different attractions, beaches, shops etc. would definitely recommend.
