This very pretty period cottage is situated in the centre of Tuckenhay, a picturesque and unspoilt village that lines a languid inlet of the River Dart only 5 miles inland from the sea at Dartmouth. Tucked in the centre of the village, this charming Victorian terraced cottage is one of four former paper mill workers' cottages that overlook the babbling waters of the River Wash that meanders through the village to join the river Dart at the Creek. No. 3, a most comfortable cottage, is thoughtfully decorated and furnished, very much a home away from home, and provides a charming cosy place to return to after a busy day touring around Devon or walking the local footpaths along the Dart. There is much to enjoy in the area, from sampling good Devon fare at the two well known waterside hostelries that are within walking distance, exploring the attractive bohemian town of Totnes, to taking a gentle boat trip down the Dart to spend a pleasurable day shopping in Dartmouth.
Accommodation: Stable door into slate tiled hallway with coat hooks. Charming sitting room with polished wood floor and rug, large comfortable sofa and two chairs, flat screen TV with integral DVD, stereo CD player and attractive open fireplace with a pine surround. An arch opens to the dining area, wood floor with rug, glass topped table to seat 4, wood burner and a window peeps over the rear courtyard. At the rear of the cottage is the small but well equipped kitchen with stone tiled work surfaces, electric cooker with halogen hob, microwave, larder fridge and separate freezer. Stable door to courtyard. Off the kitchen is a cloakroom with basin, WC and washer/dryer. Stairs to landing. Bedroom 1 has a 4ft 6in double bed, pretty decorative fireplace, built-in wardrobe and overlooks the front garden and the river. Bedroom 2 has a 4ft 6in double bed, pine wardrobe, antique pine desk and overlooks the hills at the rear of the cottage. Shower room with a good sized cubicle, rose-head shower and separate hand shower attachment, basin in vanity unit and WC.
Outside: The small garden at the front of the cottage has a lawn, table, chairs and portable barbecue and is alongside the River Wash. Note: The edge of the river is unguarded and there is a steep drop down to the water. Children will need to be supervised. The garden is divided from the cottage by a gravelled walk-way which is shared between, and is access to one other cottage in the row. Outside the kitchen is a small courtyard with table and chairs and a right of way across the end of another cottage to the road.
Included: Bed linen, towels, stair gate, electricity. (No cot or high chair.)
Heating: Mobile oil filled radiators in each room, night storage heaters and electricity - from 14th September to Spring Bank Holiday £30 per week.
Parking: On road alongside the pathway to the row of cottages.
