No. 3 The Old Watch House is an upper floor apartment in a small block of three situated on the edge of the village of Torcross with splendid views across Slapton Ley and the wonderful three mile stretch of shingle beach of Slapton Sands. From this straightforward, no frills base, which is situated alongside the road, it is possible to have lazy days on the beach, indulge in serious cream teas in a nearby tea room, sample fine fish fare at one of Devon's best known pubs, walk the coastal path for miles, bird watch on the Ley, or enjoy some energetic water sports from the water's edge - all this just yards from the apartment. Torcross is set on a spit of land between the National Nature Reserve of Slapton Ley and the wide expanse of Start Bay, surely one of the best locations in the South West.
Accommodation:
A wrought iron gate leads to an entrance door, from which ten stairs, with handrail, climb to a shared landing. The entrance to No. 3 opens off this to a small lobby and on into the open plan living room. This room has double aspect windows with superb views across the Ley and the beach. The seating area has a sofa (can convert to a single 4ft bed), two chairs, flat screen TV with DVD, stereo/CD player, electric heater, dining table for four and glazed door to the roof terrace. The simple kitchen area has a ceramic hob, built under electric oven, microwave and fridge with ice compartment. Small bedroom with twin 3ft beds and hanging hooks. Shower room with electric shower, basin and WC.
Outside: The railed roof terrace off the living room overlooks the Ley. A table, chairs and parasol, for use on the terrace, may be found in the apartment. Parking for one car in private area alongside the property this area is shared with the other two apartments providing one space for a single car each. Own access through a side gate to the sea wall and beach.
Included: Bed linen and summer electricity. No towels, cot or high chair - guests to provide their own.
Heating (wall mounted electric heaters) from end of September to Spring Bank Holiday £15 per week.
Parking: One space off road for the apartment. Further parking in paying car park opposite.
