This is an exceptional cottage, a most individual home of great character in the delightful, very peaceful, tucked-away hamlet of Start, just a mile from the sought after village of Slapton and the glorious sweep of Slapton Sands beyond. You could be in Provence once you have stepped into the charming enclosed courtyard garden of The Byre. It has a unique flavour, from the south facing sun terrace, the inglenook fireplace, to the very spacious beamed rooms that are all most handsomely and comfortably furnished.

Accommodation
A covered verandah/porch opens into the most attractive dining area with a table to seat 8 and a large comfortable sofa. The room extends into the kitchen, well equipped and fitted with solid wood worktops, dishwasher, microwave, electric oven with grill and fridge/freezer. Set in a beamed recess is a magnificent four oven oil-fired Aga with a double electric hob included. Adjacent tiled utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. The superb sitting room with wood block floor and handsome rugs is very comfortably furnished with large sofas, chairs, TV with video/DVD, CD player and features an inglenook fireplace inset with a multi-fuel burner. French double doors and a single door open to the terrace. A lobby area off the sitting room leads to a smart bathroom with bath with mixer shower attachment, basin, WC and large open shower cubicle with shower. Stairs from the sitting room to the landing. Spacious master bedroom with standard double bed, fitted cupboards, attractive valley views and en-suite bathroom with bath, shower attachment, basin and WC. Compact bunk bedroom with 3ft full size bunks and window to the courtyard. Spacious twin bedroom with 3ft beds, that can be zip linked to form a large double, and fitted cupboards. The Studio bedroom is on the ground floor through the covered entrance porch. An unusual, spacious room with stained wood floor, large windows that overlook the courtyard and features the original linhay pillars. A sofa-bed (4ft 3in), chair bed, table and cupboard are provided.

Outside: The cottage is approached through a solid timber gate. The garden is totally walled, very private and has borders well stocked with plants and shrubs. Running the length of sitting room is a raised terrace provided with table, chairs and barbecue.

Duvets, pillows, electricity, travel cot, high chair and basket of logs all included.
Linen and towels may be hired from THC.
Electricity and central heating (oil) from end September to Spring Bank holiday £30 per week.

Pets: More than one dog by arrangement with the owner and THC. Rabbit hutch provided for visiting bunnies! Pet charge £20 per pet per week.

Hard standing for one car on the gravel area. At the rear of the cottage, via a shared driveway is a further parking space for one medium sized car.
Beach at Slapton 1.5 miles, shop and pubs 1 mile.
