Crooked Lake Cottage

Crooked Lake Cottage

Bideford

Self catering holiday cottage

North Devon

This enchanting detached, part 17th century, stone cottage was once given as a wedding gift to a young bride - this is easy to imagine, as it has pretty shutters with cut-out heart shapes, a most attractive garden complete with a babbling stream and little bridges, and inviting beamed and delightfully furnished rooms. If you are lucky you might spy the resident badger or even an otter in the garden. Set in a wooded valley alongside a road that leads to the fishing port of Bideford (6 miles) and the spectacular north coast for walking, cycling, golf or simply enjoying the wide expanses of endless sandy beaches; the cottage is a perfect rural idyll from which to explore this lovely area.

Accommodation
Front door into covered porch. Charming roomy sitting room with feature open fireplace inset with a wood store and multi-fuel burner. The room is comfortably furnished with sofa and chairs, TV (Freeserve Satellite) with DVD/video, and the cottage windows peep onto the garden. This room opens out into the spacious conservatory furnished with cane seating and with double doors that open to a paved and gravel patio area supplied with garden furniture. Pretty, low-beamed dining room with CD player, dining table to seat 6 and a feature ornamental inglenook fireplace inset with flame effect electric fire. Fitted pine kitchen with electric hob and oven, washer/dryer, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, microwave, dresser, table to seat 5 and access to the garden. Upstairs there is an attractive master bedroom with a 4ft 6in pine bed, wardrobe and en-suite bathroom with whirlpool bath, electric power shower over and hand shower, basin and WC. Single bedroom with large range of fitted cupboards and 3ft bed. Steps up to a twin bedroom (3ft beds), pine furniture and lovely garden views. Family bathroom with bath, electric shower over, basin and WC.

Outside: The cottage is protected from the road by a stone wall. At one side there is a parking bay for 2-3 cars and a gate into the enclosed gardens that extend from the patio outside the conservatory around to the rear of the cottage. A pretty unfenced stream with two bridges borders the rear of the property (toddlers need to take care) and sloping lawns are edged with mature shrubs providing a very private suntrap. Sun loungers, garden furniture and barbecue provided.
