Fairholme Thatch is an end of terrace, one of three thatched cottages situated in the coastal village of Strete. This Grade II listed cottage has been extensively extended and modernised to a high standard and successfully combines the character of an old thatch with stylish and contemporary interior design, furniture and furnishings. To one side of the cottage is a raised lawn with its own stone built garden room where on summer evenings you can relax with the windows open and look across the garden to the sea beyond, that is of course, if you are not sitting in the delightful garden or on the terraced patio. Inside, the original part of the cottage is a wealth of character which harmonises with the recent extended areas. Close to the cottage are the very popular beaches of Blackpool Sands and Slapton Sands. Not much further down the road is Dartmouth, with its naval history, new marina, sailing boats, bistros, pubs and restaurants where you will be spoilt for choice of where to eat, drink or just promenade.
Accommodation:
Door into entrance porch and front door into living room. The whole ground floor is tiled with large slate tiles with a colourful thick rug covering most of the living room floor. Beamed living room, furnished with soft leather 2/3 seater sofa and easy chair. Woodburner style, gas fire recessed into the original fireplace, 32" flat screen TV with full Sky package, DVD and window with view across front garden and to the sea beyond. The bespoke kitchen has an abundance of cupboards and yards of granite worktop with butler's sink, mixer tap and electric range cooker inset into an alcove. The kitchen also has a microwave, washing machine, fitted fridge/freezer, central island and overall spotlighting with a window to the garden. A walk through doorway from the kitchen leads to a pleasant dining room with dining table and seating for 4, a music system (CD/cassette/record player and tuner) and French doors out to the patio and steps to the lawn.
Upstairs Double bedroom with 4ft 6in. low level bed, wardrobe, decorative Victorian steel fireplace and window to the garden. Twin bedroom with 3ft beds, CD player and recessed window with views to the sea. Bathroom with roll top free standing bath, hand held shower and attractive, contemporary LED blue lighting above, basin and WC.
Outside: The cottage is approached through a gateway and path to a high fence with door into the front garden, which has a small lawn and flowerbed borders. There is another garden door around to the side of the cottage leading to the main back garden. This good sized enclosed, private garden has a lawn with a variety of flower and shrub borders, trees and steps up to a split level terrace patio with circular table and a pair of large wooden chairs. Two sunloungers and three other chairs also available. To one side of the garden is a stone building with sloping roof converted into a garden room with sofa-bed, table, CD player and a separate WC with basin. The door to the garden room has very low headroom.
Please note: Toddlers and very young children will need supervision in parts of the garden where there are steps down to the lower levels.
