Goodshelter Cleave is an exceptional cottage, recently totally refurbished to a high standard, this attractive property is set in 3 acres in a wonderful position overlooking rolling wooded countryside and the dreamy inlet of Waterhead creek, upstream from Salcombe Harbour. It is easy to imagine the dashing Frenchman and his brigantine, of Du Maurier's novel, moored in the creek waters below as here there is total peace and tranquillity, surrounded as it is by beautiful countryside that sweeps down to the wooded banks that dip into the waters of the creek and nothing but the distant spire of Chivelstone Church to interrupt the lovely views. Plenty of opportunity too to mess around in boats, as small boats can be launched at high tide from the foreshore below the property (with permission of the Salcombe Harbourmaster). This is a glorious spot, a haven for birdwatchers and walkers as the estuary is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The cottage is only a mile or so from the beautiful Salcombe estuary beaches of Millbay, Sunny Cove and just a ferry ride from East Portlemouth to the popular town of Salcombe.

Accommodation:
Front door at the side of the property leads into a hallway with coat hooks. Spacious, carpeted sitting room very comfortably furnished with two large sofas, chair and stool, TV with DVD and an open fireplace. Inner hallway, off which is a utility room with chest freezer, sink and washing machine. Very smart, well fitted and equipped kitchen with ceramic electric hob, oven and grill, microwave, dishwasher and larder fridge. Steps down into a most attractive dining room with dining table for 6, extensive windows on two sides and double doors that open to a patio terrace.
Off the inner hallway are three bedrooms. Twin room with 3ft beds, fitted cupboards, TV/DVD and French doors to the side patio terrace. Single bedroom with 3ft bed and fitted cupboard. Double bedroom with 5ft bed, fitted cupboard and new en-suite shower room with corner shower, basin in vanity unit and WC. All bedrooms have drawers under the beds with extra blankets and eiderdowns. Family bathroom with bath, hand shower, heated towel rails, basin and WC.

Outside: A gated and fairly steep drive leads up to the front of the house, with an ample parking area alongside the boatshed. Enclosed lawns extend in front of the gravelled driveway and there are patio terraces on two sides of the property, table, chairs and a picnic bench provided. The grounds extend to three acres, through which is a woodland walk, and there are fenced sheep paddocks that are visited regularly by a shepherd. A few yards down the lane is a ford and the foreshore of the creek.

Central heating (oil) from end September to Spring Bank Holiday £25 per week.
