Grove Cottages

Bantham

Large self catering holiday cottage

South Devon

Grove Cottages is a most attractive, very spacious, beautifully furnished and decorated property. Converted in 2007 from two cottages, it stands on the edge of a tiny lane that meanders along the wooded valley floor of the village of West Buckland. With the close proximity of one of the best beaches in the South West, this superb family holiday home enjoys a glorious two-acre woodland garden and offers all the comforts for both a seaside and countryside holiday, set in a secluded and very peaceful spot. The little hamlet of West Buckland is a mile from Bantham Beach, ideal for children with its fine sandy beach and rock pools, or for the more adventurous it is a paradise for surfers, canoeists, and both wind and kite surfers. An excellent location for walkers too, there are scenic cliff top walks to Thurlestone and beyond along the nearby South Devon coastal path and beside the River Avon estuary.

Accommodation:
Front door from the lane into hallway/study with plenty of hooks for coats, a desk and a stone hearth inset with wood/multi-fuel burner. Double doors open to a large, most attractive living room with an open fire, large comfortable sofas and Sky TV with DVD. Adjacent very spacious, fully equipped kitchen/diner with shaker style units, granite work surfaces; a fine Aga, Miele dishwasher, Neff halogen hob, Neff electric double oven, warming drawer, microwave and American style fridge/freezer. A large dining table seats 10. Downstairs twin bedroom (3ft beds) with en-suite shower room and WC with hand basin and pulley dryer. Stairs to landing. Attractive double bedroom with 4ft 6in bed, fitted cupboards, basin in vanity unit and window overlooking the traditional Devon banks at the rear of the house. Bunk bedroom with 3ft full size bunks, fitted cupboard and views across the woodland garden. Twin bedroom with 3ft beds, fitted cupboard, radio/CD/cassette player and woodland views. Bathroom with bath, electric power shower over, basin and heated towel rail. Separate WC with hand basin. Double bedroom/second TV room with a comfortable 4ft 6in futon sofa-bed, TV with DVD and French doors opening onto the garden at the rear. Shower room with power shower, basin, heated towel rail and WC.

Outside:
Utility room across the lane with washing machine and tumble dryer. To one side of the cottage, stone steps wind up to a most attractive slate paved terrace (which gets the evening sun) surrounded by trees and adjoining meadows and provided with table, chairs, gas barbecue, stone bench and a superb outdoor living fireplace - a wonderful spot for al fresco meals. In front of the cottage across the lane, a gate opens to a beautiful very private lawned area, provided with loungers, which extends into woodland bordered by a stream. A great place to explore! This can be boggy, so very young children need to be supervised. In the wood there is hard standing for cars and a wood store for fuel for the fire.
Regret no children under 6 years
