Reputedly the oldest cottage in Malborough, Hope Thatch dates back to 1650 and is the very essence of a quintessential thatched country cottage that retains many charming original features but has been thoroughly modernised. This delightful cosy cottage is tucked in the centre of the village that has good local pubs and shops, and provides very comfortable and pleasing accommodation. From this excellent base there is masses to explore in the area from some of the best beaches in the West country at Thurlestone, Hope Cove and Salcombe; fabulous walking along the South West coastal path; the boat lover's haven of the Kingsbridge/Salcombe estuary; let alone the endless opportunities to sample good Devon fare in the many excellent pubs and restaurants of the area.

Accommodation: Stable door to porch with coat hooks and door to the most attractive living room. This lovely carpeted room has overhead beams, a feature inglenook fireplace inset with a flame effect fire, two large comfortable sofas, a large flat screen TV with DVD/video and Freeview. Wooden pillars divide the room from the dining area with a table to seat 6. The simple kitchen is provided with painted units, electric cooker, fridge/freezer and is adjacent to the rear lobby with microwave, washer/dryer and stable door to the garden. Off the kitchen is a WC and separate shower cubicle with electric shower. From the living room a door opens to the stairs which are steep and spiral (stair gate at the top), and off which there are steps down to the bathroom with corner bath, hand shower, WC and basin in vanity unit. The three bedrooms off the landing all have storage and hanging space. Spacious twin room with 3ft beds. Single bedroom with attractive day bed , this room leads into the double bedroom with 5ft double bed and TV with DVD.

Outside: In front of the cottage is an enclosed and paved courtyard. To the rear is a most attractive, sheltered, enclosed garden with a level lawn, path to a raised terrace at the end with table, chairs and parasol.
