Stancombe, a beautiful twenty acre hamlet on the outskirts of Sherford village comprises a wonderful Manor House and several stone cottages converted to a high standard of accommodation from the original barns, of which Orchid, now privately owned, is one. It is situated in a narrow, very little used country lane, dating back prior to1086 when the Domesday book was compiled, Queen Elizabeth 1st gave the Estate to Sir Francis Drake in the 16th century and now a few medieval eyebrows would be raised at the superb wealth of leisure pursuits encompassed within this unspoilt and tranquil rural Devon valley.

With a wealth of leisure pursuits to enjoy in this peaceful place, Stancombe is at the heart of the South Hams, a region of beautiful varied landscape, magnificent beaches, cliff walks, hidden coves, scenic estuaries and river valleys. The South West coastal path attracts walkers; Salcombe and Dartmouth are wonderful sailing centres; while golfers can enjoy four challenging and varied 18 hole courses at Bigbury, Dartmouth, Thurlestone and Wrangaton. Beach - Slapton Sands 4 miles. Shop and pub Frogmore 1.5 miles.

Orchid Accommodation:
Front door into open-plan living room. The sitting area has 2 very comfortable Italian leather sofas, one a good sized 4ft 6in sofa-bed, a TV with DVD/CD player and a flame-effect electric fire inset into an attractive wooden fire surround with a granite hearth. The apartment has views across the duck pond and grounds. Dining area with table and chairs. Kitchen area with electric cooker, microwave, fridge with ice compartment and coffee maker. Door from the living area to a double bedroom with a 5ft bed with storage drawers underneath, fitted wardrobes and vanity unit. Ensuite bathroom with bath, hand held pumped shower, basin and WC.
