Shute Cottage is situated on the Dartmouth to Kingsbridge road at the end of a row of cottages having origins back over 300 years but which were subsequently extended and rebuilt as artisans' dwellings by the Pook Family of Stoke Fleming in 1846. This is a comfortable family cottage, well modernised yet retaining many of its original features. It lies next to the former coaching inn whose horses were watered in the Shute Stream. The cottage is about 15 minutes' walk from unspoilt Blackpool Sands, is very handy for the shops, restaurants and boat trips in Dartmouth and is close to some delightful coastal and country walks.

Steps up to the entrance from rear courtyard to first floor landing with fairly steep narrow staircase down to ground floor sitting room with loads of character, comfortable seating, open fireplace and TV with video. Cloakroom with WC and basin. First floor: Door from landing to outside. L-shaped kitchen/diner with fitted cupboards, pine dresser, table and chairs, electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. Small utility room with washing machine. Twin bedroom (3ft beds) with feature window seats. Second floor: Double bedroom (4ft 6in bed) with pine furniture and exposed beams. Further twin bedroom with 3ft beds. Shower room with shower, basin and WC.

Outside: A pretty and private enclosed garden is situated across the courtyard to the rear.
