Set on its own in a fantastic, very rural position overlooking the far reaches of the Tamar estuary and surrounded by woods and fields, this is a lovely, historic family home, originally a Georgian mining captain's house. The mesmerising views of the estuary are enjoyed from nearly every room in this most welcoming and comfortable home, with its slate-hung exterior walls, old slate floors in the kitchen and hall and well-loved furnishings, pictures and portraits, family antiques, country pine and oriental rugs that all combine to create a wonderful atmosphere. French windows open to a sheltered garden, a heavenly spot for al fresco meals, and from where wading birds, scudding boats and the ever-changing light can be savoured. There is good walking along the valley in either direction and the sailing here is superb, with deep water moorings below the house, available by arrangement. To experience something totally out of this world, there is an extra 'room' reached down a wild, untamed path (steep in parts) to a level platform where you will find a stunning Yurt. This circular room is based on the Mongolian Yurt constructed from treated timber and canvas and has no central pole or pegs. The superb views and the position on the edge of the river make this a magical and romantic spot.
Accommodation

Attractive dining room with table to seat 8/10, wood burner and door to sitting room. Spacious sitting room with French windows to the garden, comfy sofas, chairs and open fireplace. LCD TV with DVD. Upstairs to the lovely bedrooms with stunning views from every window. Master bedroom 5ft bed, fitted cupboard, window seat and en-suite bathroom with double ended bath, basin and WC. Yurt bedroom: This very romantic room is surprisingly spacious, sumptuously furnished with rugs on the floor, 4ft 6in double bed, a traditional wash stand and electricity can be provided. However for the romantically inclined hurricane lamps and candles are available. Large double doors open to the deck area that surrounds the Yurt and the land drops away to the water below. There are no WC facilities apart from the bushes!
Outside: The property is reached down a private drive and passes the chickens, geese and Martha the donkey. Fairly level lawns in front (provided with a large table and chairs) and the side of the house with a steep path that leads down to the foreshore and water's edge, where there is a small jetty. The owners live in a small cottage in the grounds and the above-ground old mine workings are hidden in the trees and fenced off. The footpath down to the Yurt bedroom is steep and difficult to negotiate in parts and provides access to the foreshore.
