Curlew Point

Curlew Point

Kingsbridge

Self catering holiday cottage

South Devon

Gorgeous perhaps best describes the stunning location of this superb hideaway. Situated on its own on a small promontory on the eastern side of the beautiful, tree lined and very tranquil Kingsbridge/Salcombe estuary, abundant in wildlife and a haven for boating enthusiasts of all kinds, is Curlew Point. A must for couples who want to escape the world, the property, a wing of a magnificent contemporary house, is brand new, smart, and very stylish and has glorious views through the trees and grounds across the tidal reaches of the estuary. Surrounded by seven acres of grounds that include the garden and fields, the property has its own easy path down to the foreshore. The private, secluded shore side beach, where you can launch your own kayak or small dinghy, is ideal for barbecues, or a spot to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening sunshine and admire the really lovely views across the wide waters of the estuary. (Note: This property is only suitable for a couple or small family, as the shower room is en-suite to the main bedroom.)

'Curlew Point definitely has the wow factor, not just the accommodation - the whole place! We had a fabulous time - thank you.'

'Once you have reached here, there is little point in going anywhere else - except perhaps, by kayak or dinghy.'

Accommodation:
From the shared landscaped courtyard, the front door to the wing opens directly into the sitting room. This is a superb room with large windows on three sides making the most of the views, one extending the full height of the building. Simple elegance is the keynote here; white limestone tiles cover the floor with splashes of colour added by the two red leather sofas, rug and free standing contemporary wood burner. A corner unit has a wide screen TV with DVD and glazed doors open on one side to a paved private terrace overlooking the extensive lawns and the estuary towards Kingsbridge. Spiral open tread stairs wind up to a mezzanine living area, with a large sofa (can convert to a large double bed), dining table and seating for four and an unusual, small fitted kitchen area featuring a curved granite worktop, double ring halogen hob, built-in combination oven/microwave, larder fridge and dishwasher. Magnificent estuary views are enjoyed from this room.
The downstairs bedroom has glazed doors opening to the grounds and a private terrace, an oak floor, fine double 5ft bed, fitted cupboards with shelving and an en-suite shower room with corner shower cubicle, basin and WC.

Outside: A private lane leads to the gated driveway of the property with ample parking area. The enclosed grounds, extending to 7 acres, surround the house and are mainly laid to lawn with many fine trees and meadows and shared with the owners who occasionally come down for weekends. Two paved terrace areas extend from the sitting room and bedroom and are provided with garden table and chairs. A grassy path (some 300 metres) winds down to the tidal foreshore with a small gravel beach (covered at high tide). There is appropriately placed seating at various view points where you can sit and dream! At low tide there is a cutting through the shale rocks to enable launching of boats.
