A lovely conversion of two old stone, cow barns, Farthingfield is in a stunning position overlooking the creek in the quiet and picturesque village of South Pool. Children love it here. They have an acre of gardens to run around in, complete with play frame. In the village they can paddle about in the creek with its resident ducks, or walk to the pontoon to catch crabs when the tide comes in. The patio area features a huge slate table next to a stone-built barbecue.
South Pool has a wonderful pub which serves fine food, just a couple of hundred metres from the house. For sailors, dinghies can be launched from the slipway.
The position on the east side of the Salcombe estuary could not be better . A short drive takes you to numerous glorious sandy beaches including Mill Bay, Sunny Cove and Lannacombe, all on the South West coastal path. Salcombe can be accessed by foot ferry from East Portlemouth and the lovely towns of Dartmouth and Kingsbridge are within a few miles.
Accommodation:
Front door to hallway . Slate spiral staircase winds up to a landing and on into a superb kitchen/diner with polished wood floor and double French doors to a balcony overlooking the courtyard and village. A modern anthracite burner and table to seat 8/10 are alongside the fine fitted kitchen, with ceramic hob and electric double oven, microwave, large larder fridge, dishwasher and door to the lane outside. Lovely, spacious carpeted sitting room with open fire in a stone hearth, comfortable sofas, chairs, new flat screen 42" TV with full Sky + HD package, CD, VCR and DVD player, all beneath exposed beams and enjoying village and creek views from large windows and a feature glass alcove. Another spiral staircase winds down from here to a fitted bar area, with stools and French doors to the courtyard.
Bedrooms: Master bedroom is on the first floor off the landing with 5ft wrought iron bedstead, triple aspect windows and exposed roof beams. En-suite bathroom with bath, hand-held shower attachment, heated ladder towel rail, basin and WC. On the ground floor are 3 bedrooms. Off the bar area, a twin bedroom (3ft beds), fitted cupboards, cot and en-suite tiled shower room with large walk-in shower, basin and WC. Off the hall area a further double bedroom with 4ft 6in bed, fitted cupboards and tiled en-suite bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. Large children's playroom/bedroom with 2 sets of 3ft bunk beds, a sofabed, small peoples' table and chairs, lots of toys and French doors to the courtyard. The ground floor roomy utility room has washing machine, tumble dryer, freezer, clothes dryer and separate shower room with basin and WC. Further WC and basin off first floor landing.
Outside: A five bar gate opens to the paved courtyard area in front of the property with steps down to a superb sunken outdoor dining area with huge slate table top, benches and large slate topped built-in barbecue. Outdoor lighting. Level area of lawn with swings, slide and Wendy house alongside a large open, sloping meadow that overlooks the village.
