Hope ThatchMalboroughSelf catering holiday cottageSouth Devon |
This appealing cottage is the very essence of a quintessential thatched country cottage, retaining many charming original features and has been tastefully modernised providing very comfortable accommodation. Hope Thatch dates back to 1650 and is reputedly the oldest cottage in the South Devon village of Malborough. Just one and a half miles from Salcombe and 2 miles from some fabulous sandy beaches, The village has a couple of shops and 2 local pubs and a small bistro all of which serve good food. From this excellent base there is masses to explore in the area, from some of the best sandy beaches in the West Country at Thurlestone, Hope Cove and Salcombe to fabulous walking along the South West coastal path; the boat lover's haven of the Kingsbridge/ Salcombe estuary; let alone the endless opportunities to sample good Devon fare in the many excellent pubs and restaurants of the area.
"Lovely cosy cottage, real home from home - very relaxing holiday - love the area...." September 2011
"What a treasure! Our 2 weeks in Hope Thatch could not have been better. It has been the ideal base to explore Devon and Cornwall. Attention to detail is very much appreciated - especially loved having a Christmas tree. Thank you." December 2011
