Oak Cottage

Oak Cottage

Hooe

Self catering holiday cottage

South Devon

Here there is a treat in store, as discovering Oak Cottage is like finding a treasure hidden in the attic! Tucked in a quiet corner, charmingly furnished and well equipped with a delightful, private waterside terrace/quay, this cottage is simply not to be missed. Here is the best of all worlds - situated on the waterside of the picturesque Hooe lake, a sheltered area of water off the Plym Estuary and close to Plymouth Sound in Devon, with stunning views across the ever changing waterscape scene with its abundance of wildlife, it is hard to believe that the historic centre of Plymouth is only a short distance away. The cottage has its own pontoon and a nearby slipway (boats by arrangement).

With many beautiful local sites to visit and plenty of coastal footpaths to explore, the cottage is close to the Mountbatten Diving Centre and Marina which hosts international yachting competitions and caters for top class sailing and other activities such as fishing, Deep Blue diver training and diving trips in and around Plymouth. Plymouth City Centre approximately 4 miles away is easily accessible by car or via a regular bus service, or take a local ferry ride across to the famous Barbican centre for restaurants and unusual shops. Visit the historic Hoe, Smeaton's Tower, the National Marine Aquarium and The Citadel and further into the heart of the City there are theatres, cinemas and shops galore, a haven for shopaholics. All this on the doorstep of Oak Cottage.

"I've stayed in a lot of cottages, I don't think I've ever stayed in one quite so comfortable, you have thought of everything - many thanks, we will be back for sure!" Karen, Hannah & Johnny

Charming, delightful , cosy cottage. A true home from home. Thank you. The Berryman Family, Worcestershire

Accommodation:
Stable door into tiled galley style kitchen, well equipped with a large gas range cooker with five ring hob, a grill and two ovens, fridge with ice box, dishwasher and microwave. Door into utility cupboard housing the boiler, washing machine and tumble dryer. A large fridge/freezer is located in a shed just outside the front door. Arch into attractive dining room with polished wood floor, dining table to seat 6 and attractive decorative wood burner (not for use). Door from here into the sitting room, comfortably furnished with a large sofa and two chairs, TV with DVD, a good collection of books and DVD's, woodburner and excellent window views across the lake.
Stairs to the landing. Superb master bedroom with 5ft bed, hanging rail, TV, feature exposed scissor beams and dual aspect windows with lovely water views. The second double bedroom has a 4ft 6in bed, hanging rail, chest of drawers and views towards the adjacent park. Single bedroom with 3ft bed, desk and velux window. Smart bathroom with bath, shower over, basin, WC and large wardrobe.

Outside:  The cottage is approached along a walkway, from which a gate leads to a path down the side of the cottage. This opens out to the terrace in front of the cottage, with low walls and provided with teak table and benches, ideal for al fresco meals. A fixed ladder drops down to the water and a floating pontoon, where guests can moor their boats. (The pontoon is for use at own risk).
Boats can be launched at a public slipway close to the property.  Note: the lakeside wall drops to the water below so small children will need to be supervised.
