The Old Smithy is an imaginatively refurbished South Devon holiday cottage, backing onto a brook that bubbles down to the head of the creek, leading down to the beautiful Salcombe estuary. Tastefully furnished and well equipped it is set in the picturesque village of South Pool which has great character, is full of pretty cottages and has a traditional inn, Millbrook, that serves delicious food. There are fantastic sandy beaches at East Portlemouth, just 3 miles away and from there you can catch a passenger ferry across to the vibrant town of Salcombe, which is packed with traditional inns, restaurants serving locally caught seafood and interesting shops selling anything from curios to fashionable clothing. The pretty market town of Kingsbridge at the head of the estuary caters for all your holiday essentials and you can visit the historic naval port of Dartmouth, passing through Torcross with its nature reserve and three miles of shingle beach on the way.

Accommodation: Wrought iron gates to quarry-tiled porch and entrance into a beamed hallway . Large living room with local slate floor and log burner set in feature stone fireplace. Two sofas and an occasional chair surround the fireplace together with a coffee table, TV with Freeview and DVD. Dining area with table and chairs to seat 6 and French doors opening onto the rear terrace. Fitted kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, refrigerator and freezer and serving hatch to the dining area. Two ground floor bedrooms, one double bedroom with 4ft 6in bed and a twin bedroom with one 3ft and one 2ft 6in single beds. Ground floor shower room with shower cubicle, hand basin, WC and heated towel rail. Stairs from lounge area up to a mezzanine seating area   with a sofa and futon. Master bedroom w ith 5ft bed, a 3ft single bed and en-suite bathroom , bath with shower over, hand basin, WC, shaver point and heated towel rail.

Outside:  Sunny terrace with garden table and chairs and sunshade, which overlooks  the brook and the meadow.  This is a lovely suntrap and is ideal for summer barbecues.
