This is Lorna Doone Country, glorious and unspoilt, with heather clad hills, open moorland, wooded valleys, plunging waterfalls, crystal clear waters of rivers and streams, all close to the towering cliffs, rocky headlands and sweeping shorelines of the coastline of Exmoor. Set in this enchanting location and tucked in the folds of a beautiful, very peaceful, valley along a tiny lane that meanders beside Oare Water is Poocks Cottage.
This charming detached stone cottage, formerly a 19th century keeper's dwelling, retains much of its original character and is most comfortably furnished. Enjoying its own enclosed gardens with lawns that ramble up to adjacent fields and open moorland beyond, the cottage is close to Oare church and Robber's Bridge, both featured in the novel Lorna Doone. Surrounded by stunning hills, there are many beautiful doorstep walks and a short drive takes you to the outstanding Heritage coastline of Porlock Bay, and the nearby pretty seaside and country villages of Lynton, Lynmouth, Porlock and Porlock Weir. Come here to escape from the world, be cosseted by the tranquillity and beauty of the exceptional location of this idyllic Exmoor cottage.

Accommodation: Stable door entrance into stone and timber clad porch and latch door into cosy beamed sitting room with two sofas and two easy chairs, and a large inglenook open fireplace with bread oven. (No TV). Door to stairs and through to open plan kitchen and dining room. The kitchen has Shaker style units with plenty of woodblock worktops, electric cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer, window over sink to garden, CD/radio/cassette player. Dining area with table to seat 7, open fireplace and door with porch out to the garden. Downstairs twin bedroom with 3ft beds and fitted wardrobe. Separate WC. New bathroom with bath, hand held shower, basin, WC, large airing cupboard and washing machine. Fairly steep stairs to a landing with three bedrooms. Double bedroom with 4ft 6in bed and views along the lane and to the garden, curtained storage space. Twin bedroom with 3ft beds and built in wardrobe. Single bedroom with 3ft bed.

Outside: Attractive walled garden with good sized lawn, garden gate to paved pathway in front of the cottage, wood table and chairs and two benches. Large garage for up to two cars and woodstore with double gates to one side. Second large sloping lawn with views across open countryside.

Included: Duvets, pillows, bed linen, (no towels), travel cot, electricity and logs.
Heating (night storage) from end September to Spring Bank Holiday £25 per week.
Telephone with honesty box. No mobile reception.
Pets: Well mannered pets welcome. Pet charge: £25 per pet per week.
Off road parking for one car beside the cottage gate and there is a covered garage with space for two cars on the other side of the cottage.
Beach at Dunster & Sillery Sand at Lynmouth both approx. 6.5 miles.
Shops Porlock 5 miles.
Pub at Culbone Stables 2 miles & Brendon 3.5 miles.
A39 to Minehead to the east & Ilfracombe & Barnstaple to the west under 2 miles.
