Villa CrusoeBigburySelf catering holiday cottageSouth Devon |

Here's a haven where you really can get away from it all and relax in beautiful, totally private surroundings right on the water's edge. This fantastic Tuscan style villa of the art deco era with intriguing connections to Daniel Defoe and his famous 'Robinson Crusoe', hence its name, is situated on a peaceful bend of the Avon estuary giving guests not only amazing views, but also access to the water and Bantham's and Bigbury's golden sandy beaches at the mouth of the estuary. Spacious and informal accommodation evokes the mood of a less frantic age with wonderful views from most rooms, log fires in the reception rooms and a large dining room overlooking the water that can sit up to 12 people. Step outside and wander around the beautiful gardens set in 4 acres, with a stream that tumbles past the sunny rear patio on its way to the water. Set over the boathouse, with its two slipways, is a large patio area, ideal for summer barbecues and evening aperitifs, with unrivalled views up and down the estuary as it winds through the soft Devon countryside. The owners supply four kayaks and a small dinghy for use by the guests, who may also bring their own boats on trailers up to around 20'. (Ask for details). For the more energetic, this area has wonderful coastal and estuary walks and an 18 hole golf course is located just a few minutes drive away. It is impossible to do justice to this property in a few words, but suffice to say that Villa Crusoe will provide a unique and entertaining venue in any season, which once experienced is sure to lure you back again and again.
