Wisteria Cottage, originally dating from the early 1500s, is situated beside the River Avon at Lydia Bridge, a tiny hamlet on the southern edge of Dartmoor with grounds and gardens of approximately one acre (shared between the two other properties at Lydia Mill). This charming little semidetached cottage has retained many original features including exposed timbers, beamed ceilings, slate floors and stone spiral staircase, but the comforts of modern day living have been carefully incorporated, making this a pretty and comfortable home from home. The river and waterfall create a delightful waterfront garden and the area of garden on the river bank below the wonderful falls is a delightful and tranquil spot for contemplation and the perfect ambience for a happy holiday. A public footpath on the opposite bank of the river, reached via the bridge, leads into the village of South Brent (10 minutes walk) where most of the essentials of life can be found. The cottage is ideally located for exploring the South Hams and of course Dartmoor, which is easily accessible by foot or car.

  Accommodation:  
Comfortable sitting room with exposed ceiling beams, original flagstone floor, inglenook fireplace with woodburning stove, TV/video. Kitchen/diner with feature wall with exposed timbers, electric hob, microwave and conventional ovens, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, dining area with table and settles. Authentic steep stone, spiral staircase to a very pretty bedroom overlooking Lydia Bridge and the river with a 5ft double bed. Shower room (shower only). Separate WC and basin. Second bedroom with two single beds. The cottage is not suitable for babies or toddlers.

Note: Guests should be aware that due to the age of the property which was built when people were shorter than we are today, the ceiling beams are quite low in some parts of the cottage, including the doorway from the
staircase. 

Outside: The shared grounds and garden are approximately one acre. The section of the garden below the wonderful falls is on the river bank and is available to guests. A delightful and tranquil spot for contemplation.

Included: Duvets, blankets also available,  pillows, bed linen, towels and starter  pack of logs . Additional supplies of  logs may be purchased.
