The Royal Oak, Meavy

This popular moorland pub lies in the idyllic rural village of Meavy on the south-western fringes of Dartmoor, tucked away in the River Meavy valley. The pub is reputedly named after the 800-year-old oak tree casting its dappled shade on the adjacent village green – a popular reclining spot for punters. This former church house inn dates back to the 15th century and still retains much of its original character; low beam ceilings, old stone fireplace, reclaimed pew seating and flagstone floors. Surrounded by wonderful woodland walks, this gorgeous venue makes for the perfect Mother’s Day lunch date.

The Rock Inn, Haytor
On the eastern edge of Dartmoor in the enchanting moorland village of Haytor Vale lies the much-loved wayfarers’ haunt, The Rock Inn. This former coaching inn has welcomed patrons across its well-trod threshold since the mid-eighteenth century. The log fire still roars heartily on those chilly evenings and the menu remains full of inviting local fayre – the pub having received double rosettes from the AA for its high standards of hospitality, while also sweeping the boards at The Good Pub Guide. The Rugglestone Inn, Widecombe-in-the-Moor
It’s one of the most iconic pubs on Dartmoor; a handsome, old stone tavern, draped by wisteria and tucked away down a quiet country lane. Step inside The Rugglestone Inn and you’ll experience a welcoming scene from a bygone age; a centuries old bar still bowed, knotted and blemished by the beer-soaked crescents of former yokel’s tankards.
