More and more Brits are opting for a staycation according to a recent survey.

Nearly three out of every five holiday-makers are choosing to remain in the UK for their annual summer break, an increase of two percent on last year’s figures.

The research was carried out by the Travelodge hotel chain who surveyed more than 3,000 UK adults, of which one in four revealed they were also planning to enjoy more shorter breaks, averaging three this year.

“More Britons than ever are exploring what makes Great Britain so great,” Travelodge’s Shakila Ahmed told HuffPost. “We are seeing more Britons booking three-in-one holidays. This includes taking a city, rural and coastal break as part of a one-week holiday.”

The survey also revealed that the two most popular destinations for a Great British Staycation are currently Devon and Cornwall.
