If the dismal January weather has left you feeling err, dismal perhaps it’s time to start planning a summer holiday to lift your spirits? Holidaying in the UK has lots of well documented advantages, no airport queues, no passports, just pack the kids, dog and a few pairs of Crocs into the car and in an hour or two you’re there. But that’s not everything is it? The family holiday is a special time so needs to be chosen carefully. The South West is a hugely varied area with so much to do and see that we hope the region offers something for everyone, including the perfect holiday cottage to come back to at the end of the day.
Beach lovers have an enormous choice across the region, from the wide sandy beaches of Padstow and Bideford in North Devon, pretty sheltered coves and estuaries of South Devon including Salcombe, Thurlestone and Hope Cove, or the high cliffs and beaches packed with fossils along Dorset’s Jurassic Coast. Walkers can explore the region’s dramatic coastline on the South West Coast Path and water sports fans both novice and expert can kayak, paddleboard, surf and sail in some of the best locations in the country.
To get away from it all, there are pretty farmhouses and rural cottages in remote areas of Dartmoor and Exmoor or for a bit more going on you can stay in picturesque Cornish fishing villages such as Polperro or Fowey, the historic port of Dartmouth or the bustling seaside towns of Looe or Lyme Regis. Food and drink fans can visit vineyards, cider presses, and a huge range of excellent restaurants from beachside shacks selling seafood caught that day to Michelin starred restaurants, all of which make use of the region’s excellent local produce. And if the children tire of the beach there are a number of excellent zoos, farm activity centres, theme parks and attractions including the Eden Project and Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre.
With over 600 holiday cottages in beautiful locations across the South West, we have properties to suit most budgets and group sizes.
