This Week’s Weird & Spooky Goings-on in South Devon

Pigs, Ponies & Pumpkins at Pennywell Farm 23rd – 29th October

There’s a bumper load of activities happening at Pennywell Farm, Buckfastleigh, this half-term holiday, everything from jugglers and entertainers, to pottery demonstrations and pumpkin carving. And there’s always time for some ‘pig snuggles’ at the piggy cuddles barn.

The Tin Forest Puppet Show 25th October

If you’re looking for something more magical this half-term, The Tin Forest puppet show is an uplifting, touching and humorous puppet show full of visual invention and musical fun. Expect mechanical birds, a wind-up circus and exotic animals of all shapes and sizes.  “An old man lives in a dreary junkyard, full of other people’s broken and unwanted junk. He dreams that one day his world will be full of life, colour and sound. His wish is about to come true…”

Hallowe’en Spooky Fun at Overbeck’s 27th – 28th October

The stunning sub-tropical gardens of Overbeck’s, Bolt Head, Salcombe, will be celebrating All Hallows’ Eve. They’re putting a call out to all budding witches and wizards and will be hosting craft activities, story-telling, plus a chance to walk the ghostly garden trail…if your dare!

Weird Happenings at Woodlands 21st – 29th October

It’s the largest family theme park in Devon and guarantees a fun day out for all the family. This half-term, Woodlands has loads of spooktastic and spine-chilling events going-on; Ezmeralda’s spooky activities, Marty’s monster disco and manor, the ghost farm ride, trick or treating, pumpkin carving and much, much more…

Day of the Dead Craft Activities 25th – 26th October

Free creative fun for the entire family this half-term at Devon Guild of Craftsman, Bovey Tracey. Activities inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead, All Souls traditions, plus the Guild’s current ‘Dead on Arrival’ inhouse exhibition.

Explore different decorative customs for remembrance and make marvellous festive mementos to adorn our space and take home: flower garlands, skulls, bunting and funky masks. Materials provided. Activities are supervised by qualified staff. All ages welcome. Children under 12 years accompanied by an adult please.”

Pumpkin Day at Riverford Farm 28th October

You’re invited to a family-friendly event at Wash Farm, Buckfastleigh, packed with loads of exciting activities and delicious food and one of the west country’s biggest celebration of pumpkins. So, put your wellies on and come join in the fun!
