Description

This tastefully renovated traditional cottage provides a welcoming and comfortable retreat, peacefully situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Slapton, close to the sea. The village is full of pretty thatched cottages and narrow lanes, has a thriving local community and two welcoming pubs serving great food. Slapton is within walking distance of the three mile shingle beach at Torcross and the famous Slapton Ley national nature reserve, so this makes a great destination for nature lovers and walkers alike.  The cottage has a sunny south facing garden in which to relax at the end of the day and provides a perfect base from which to explore all that Devon has to offer.

Front door opens into a delightful beamed open plan living room with inglenook fireplace set in a feature brick hearth inset with a cosy woodburner. The sitting area is well furnished with two sofas and Smart TV with Freeview.  The dining area has a pine table and chairs to seat 4 and the well fitted and equipped kitchen has an electric hob, built-under oven, refrigerator with ice box, microwave and door to rear of cottage and a separate utility room with washing machine and WC. Narrow stairs up to two pretty bedrooms. Double bedroom with a 4ft 6in bed and fitted cupboard. Bunk bedroom which comfortably accommodates 'grown ups' with a set of new 3ft bunks and chest of drawers. Shower room with electric shower in corner cubicle, hand basin and WC.

The cottage is reached along a walkway across the front of a row of cottages and benefits from a pretty south facing front garden with patio area with table and chairs, a lawn and decked area at the end of the garden. A garden shed contains a table and two chairs. To the rear of the cottage is a walkway providing access to the other properties (rarely used).

No allocated space but normally plenty of parking available in the village.

  • Included: Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi, electricity and central heating (gas).
  • Telephone: For incoming calls only. Mobile reception mixed.
  • Local Facilities: Beaches Slapton Sands beach (shingle) half a mile. Blackpool Sands 3 miles. Two pubs and a village stores a few minutes walk. Kingsbridge and Dartmouth 7 miles.

Thanks for the prompt response to the long grass situation - it was sorted on the Monday morning.

We really enjoyed our stay. Have stayed in numerous properties in Slapton over the years and wouldn't hesitate to return to this one. Kids loved the garden and the bunk beds. Although the cottage is small, it's very comfortable and doesn't feel cramped (until you squeeze 4 people in to the bathroom!). We loved it.

A most enjoyable stay

May 2017

We really loved the cottage and had a great, relaxing holiday in the beautiful South Hams. Slapton is a really friendly and welcoming village and we enjoyed the Queens Arms and found the local church very welcoming. Apart from the comments above, we thought the cottage and the garden were just right and we will almost certainly return. Please thank the owners for making the cottage such a pretty and comcomfortable holiday home.

A gorgeous little cottage, had a wonderful time – didn't want to leave. Really nice to stay/find a place with lots of home comforts. Lots of places to visit in area – recommend a walk down to Torcross and onto Beesands, Salcombe is definitely worth a visit as is Dartmouth and Blackpool sands. Will definitely be back.
