Enjoyed our stay very much- very well equipped accommodation, clean and tidy on arrival. Helpful owners.
A beautiful cottage in a fantastic, central location for both Dartmouth and Kingsbridge/ Salcombe. Parking permit was great addition, parking in the village was fine so don’t let the fact it has not got its own parking put you off. Well equipped and fantastic local history books to read. Lovely area to explore, a great walks range of walks from the door. Fantastic for birdwatching. Murmuring starlings every evening was an amazing sight and to wake up to watch the swans, ducks and other birds on the lake was fantastic. I would recommend this cottage and we hope to return.
Perfect in every way. Thank you
We had a wonderful stay. The cottage was very comfortable and in an excellent location. Delightful! Providing a parking permit was a particularly appreciated detail.
Despite minor criticisms above we loved the cottage and would very much like to come back.
It was wonderful. We loved the website where you can "walk" around the property. It was very clean, tidy and beautifully fitted out. Shower is great. Really (really) appreciated the parking ticket. Also appreciated the info about the road closure and the what to do emails. Can't fault it at all. Oh neighbours were really friendly too.
We had a wonderful stay in Florence Cottages. The house is gorgeous and the host goes above and beyond with everything that is supplied with the cottage. We have 3 children aged from 7 to 11 and we all loved the cottage, and were sorry to leave the cottage. The children loved all the board games that were supplied in the cottage. There are loads of pamphlets provided on local areas of interest and the books that are on the shelves about the history of the area are fantastic. We loved the cottage and thought the location was amazing. Start Bay Inn is just over the road and the food and staff are fantastic and the prices are great for food. Stokely farm shop was up the road, the quality of the food and the price was amazing and again the staff were really welcoming. Crab fishing in Kingsbridge was another highlight of the trip. We found Bigbury on Sea & Burgh Island on Thursday, and it was one of the nicest places I have ever swam in. Feeding the ducks in Slapton Ley and watching the swifts in the evening was amazing and swimming in Torcross Bay. This is an amazing location and we are so happy we chose this area to stay in, and even happier that we got to stay in 4 Florence Cottages!
The house is stunning, so well equipped, an amazing location, with stunning views. The owners are so friendly and helpful. The house has been done to a high standard. My friends and family now also want to stay at the property. I would live there if I could and have already recommended it to others. It was the best property we have ever stayed in. Since being back home we now have the holiday blues.
Absolutely lovely cottage in great locations highly recommend
Wonderful and cosy cottage. Very good equipped with everything you need for two children. Two stairgates and a baby seat. The kitchen included everything you need. The bathroom was a good size with bath and shower. It was just perfect for us (two adults and two children). The view from the sleeping rooms to slepton ley and the sea behind was so lovely.
Enjoyed our stay. Cosy cottage.
We had a fantastic break in this lovely cottage. It really felt like home from home and we are planning to return again in the future. It is not very often that we return to the same place twice, so that shows how good it was ! Lovely cottage and well equipped and the shower was brilliant. Great views over Slapton Ley to the sea. The shop, 2 cafes and a pub were about 200 metres away, which was really handy. We enjoyed lovely meals at Seabreeze Cafe, The Boathouse and The Start Bay Inn and having them all literally down the road was brilliant. Great location for a holiday. Very handy to be near a bus stop too with regular buses running between Dartmouth and Plymouth via Kingsbridge. We hardly used the car during our stay and enjoyed exploring on our doorstep. We would highly recommend a tour of Start Point Lighthouse. Don't be put off by no parking outside the cottage, as the car park pass works in the car parks in the village (we used the car park behind the other houses rather than the 'Tank' car park at night)and had absolutely no problems. I am really fussy about where I park my car, but the spaces were a sensible size and I was happy that my car was safe. You could also briefly unload and load up outside the front gate. The owners have put a lot of effort into making this cottage special and the books and pictures about the history of the cottage and the surrounding area were really interesting, as were the DVDs that had been recorded from television programmes about the area. We would highly recommend this cottage and the area to other visitors. It was very hard returning back to the day-to-day routine after such a lovely break !
Yes - had a super time. Great accommodation. Free parking pass v useful.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Cottage was finished to a very high standard with the best shower we have experienced in any cottage. The information manual was easy to understand for the workings of the cottage, wifi easy to log onto and use. Parking was straightforward and as described in the details and did not detract from the comfort and ease of the holiday experience. Would definitely stay again. You are within a few strides of the nature reserve and the sea, together with the local village store and selection of eateries. Other larger coastal resorts are a short distance away, however everything we needed was without the need to travel by car. Brilliant!! PS spoke to the owner who was also very helpful and caring.
What a great cottage to stay in from the location and the locality of services e.g. Beach, shop, eating establishments and local attractions, to the high standard of the property itself. We wanted for nothing through the week and will definitely stay again. Can't recommend it enough. Particularly loved the showers and the decking area.
Lovely cottage which has been beautifully furnished with great attention to detail. A real home from home. Amazing location with great views across the Ley. Will definitely return to the area and to Florence Cottage in particular!
A beautiful cottage in an amazing position with outstanding views. The cottage is an absolute delight with everything you could wish for, clean, tidy and even a lovely garden which was lovely to sit in with breakfast and watch the wild life. A lot of attention to detail makes this a perfect peaceful holiday home just perfect.
We had a fantastic week at Florence Cottage. The cottage has been decorated and furnished to a high standard, it is comfortable, cosy and spacious. The views across the ley to the sea are fantastic and the location being 5 minutes from the beach and all the facilities at Torcross was perfect. Thanks.
4 Florence Cottages was an excellent holiday cottage - maintained to a very high standard, incredibly comfortable, both bedrooms had spectacular views across to the sea and lake. We will most definitely book this cottage again in the future and recommend to our friends!
A lovely cottage in a beautiful location. Well equipped and a perfect home from home experience. Close proximity to the beach and the nature reserve is a real plus, and distance to sandy beaches is not too far. Best fish and chips ever at the village pub and fishing for mackerel from the beach was a holiday highlight.
4 Florence Cottages was perfect for us. It is a great place either for a couple or a family. It is well equiped and comfortable to stay in with great views across the Ley. We have stayed in Torcross previously but would definitely return to Florence Cottages for our next stay.
We're so lucky to consider Torcross a home away from home, it's a fantastic place and one that holds so many amazing memories for us as a family. Toad Hall have always provided an outstanding service, from booking enquiry through to completion, and we would recommend them unreservedly. 4 Florence Cottage itself has to one of our favourites, with its picturesque setting on the edge of the Ley, it's homely and traditional cottage vibe, but with a level of attention to detail, comfort and standard of modern living that is 5*. It's not often I go on about such things, but the walk in shower is probably the best I've ever experienced!! Thanks to owner Simon for furnishing a fantastic experience in an awesome property.
We have stayed with toadhall cottages 3 times and every cottage has been above average and in spectacular locations, you take the hard work out of finding the special properties.
