Lovely location that suited our three generation occupancy very well.
Yes we enjoyed our stay - the views are wonderful. It would be helpful for your info to say that the key also accesses the front door which is on ground level. The wooden stairs are steep and it was difficult to carry our luggage up them when arriving at the property and annoying to find out after we had carried everything up the wooden steps that we could have accessed the front door. Would be really difficult for anyone with limited mobility.
Many thanks for your feedback which we have passed on to the owners. Sorry that the door key wasn't clear for you. The steps leading up to the property are indeed pictured, and we find that those with limited mobility would usually not select accommodation which has steps to access and several steps within a property so to assist with guests decisions they are all clearly detailed within a description and access statements. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. From the Toad Hall Team.

A lovely spacious cottage with fantastic views across to Burgh Island. Lovely to watch the tides coming in & out , and watch the sea tractor travelling between the island and the main land. Short 10 minute walk to the beach at Bigbury. A 10 minute walk in opposite direction along coast path to Challaborough with fish & chip shop and small convenience store.
We were disappointed not to be able to access the property before 4 pm. This is the latest I have ever had access to holiday accommodation and really most of the first day's rental is over by 4 pm!
The property was excellent and everything was as described in the on line viewing guide , we had trouble with the rubbish as there were no recycling sacks .. we really thought the overall standards were excellent though and not only will we be using toad hall again we will be recommending it to friends and family.. can’t praise the overall standards and general service enough , thank you
We did enjoy our holiday. Location perfect. Downstairs accommodation a bit sparse. We love Bigbury
This was a lovely property to stay in. Well equipped and nice furnishings. Beautiful view from the lounge balcony. Very relaxing holiday.
We all absolutely loved everything about our stay. The location was amazing, the house was perfect and both toddler and dog settled in straight away! We are thinking of returning next year. From booking to arriving everything went smoothly. The directions to find the property need to be a little clearer, you cannot see the phone box till you,ve passed it due to the hedges! Needs a sign really out front.
The views are wonderful and we really enjoyed the stay.
We all had a lovely time, especially enjoyed the views from the cottage. It was very convenient to be able to book for a long weekend as we were visiting our daughter who is studying at Plymouth University. Thank you
An enjoyable stay. The problem with having no heating was dealt with quickly and the only downside was the building work across the road. Would be happy to stay there again.
our second time at Alpine Cottage and overall the place fits the bill perfectly for our needs. The location is perfect for access to Bigbury on Sea and surrounding area.
A lovely property, with plenty of space for the 7 of us. We liked the spacious sitting room with huge sofa and amazing views, the dining table big enough for everyone, and comfortable beds. We didn't get in the car all week, as there were enough beaches and walks in the immediate area to keep us happily occupied. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Thank you.
We all enjoyed our stay. Sitting on the balcony, looking out at Burgh Island was very relaxing.
GOT A BIT FED UP WITH RECYCLING DID NOT PAY NEARLY A GRAND A WEEK TO HAVE TO PUT THE RUBBISH OUT AND TAKE BOTTLES TO THE CAR PARK .
Thank you for your feedback. We understand that recycling can be frustrating, but with a mutual responsibility to the environment we urge those visiting our beautiful county of Devon to recycle as much as possible when disposing of household waste, for the benefit of all. We hope this didn't detract from your enjoyment of your holiday. The Toad Hall Team

Such a lovely welcome by the owner, made it such a special experience, and a home from home which is just what we wanted. Loved it! Will book it again later this Year June
We know Bigbury very well and visit every year. It was lovely to stay in the village and have such amazing views and beach accessibility from such a lovely property.
This property is in an excellent location and has a fantastic view. Really comfortable
This property is ideally situated with just a short stroll to the beach. There is a lovely view from the lounge across to Burgh Island. The house itself has the biggest ever sofa, so after an active day we were all able to stretch out
