Blacksmiths Cottage is a truly charming, 200-year-old semi-detached stone cottage enjoying stunning countryside views to the rear and attached on one side to what used to be the old village Smithy. The pretty accommodation has been modernised throughout whilst retaining its character features with the help of a woodburning stove, whitewashed ceiling beams, and a lovely stable door in the kitchen from which to admire the views.
The hamlet of Washbourne is formed around the small valley of the river Wash, a tributary of the River Dart, and is situated in an idyllic setting of unspoilt tree-lined banks, secret creeks and rolling countryside.
For those who can tear themselves away from this peaceful haven, the village of Harbertonford is just 1.5 miles away with two handy village stores and a pub. The beautiful Creekside village of Tuckenhay is also just 1.5 miles stroll away with two extremely popular pubs to sample.
Washbourne also lies equidistant between the bohemian town of Totnes and the naval town of Dartmouth. The eclectic market town of Totnes with its enticing narrow streets and renowned for its markets, art galleries, unusual independent shops, restaurants and cafes including organic and specialist food suppliers. Dartmouth, in the other direction, is a hotspot for all sailing activities and renowned for its upmarket shops and restaurants. Alternatively, you could just lose yourself along one of the many stunning countryside and coastal walks available on the doorstep and after a day’s exploring, why not sip cocktails or dine alfresco in the delightful private garden. However you decide to spend your holiday; this lovely cottage won’t fail to delight!

We had a fabulous fortnight here. Both Toadhall staff and the owners were great sorting out the wasp invasion, thanks to the gardener for his help! The cottage is lovely and comfortable, is in a great location and I am truly going to miss the views whilst washing up!
June 2018 Thank you so much for letting us stay in your gorgeous cottage. We had a truly amazing time here and would love to return one day. The location is perfect and we will certainly miss those beautiful and sounds. The property itself is full of character and offered all we needed. This was certainly a lucky find and were sorry to be leaving! Thanks again for a great holiday!
We have had an amazing time staying in this pretty cottage. We felt at home as soon as we walked through the door. The weather has been gorgeous. The property is in a great location for visiting places either on foot or by car. Most evenings we have sat in the garden and enjoyed the view and wildlife and the company of the local sheep, who didn't seem bothered by our Cocker Spaniel. We hope to return sometime in the near future.
Thank you very much for a wonderful stay in this beautiful cottage. We came with our 4 year old Grandson and he had the time of his life, being woken in the morning by the sheep he found hilarious! Our best day was when we visited the Woodlands Theme Park, excellent day out if you have children, so much to do! We would definitely come back and enjoy this amazing place again, thank you!
The owners have obviously given a lot of thought around the detail - the little touches were most welcome.
