After a very enjoyable stay last year, we were very happy to return this year. The accommodation is very well presented with everything you need, and the grounds are very well kept. Jane, the owner, is delightful and very welcoming.
Enjoyed Janes welcome pack and the location we did not want for anything
A lovely place to stay, nice location.
We loved our stay at Calf pen. The area is stunning and we visited lots of great places. The cottage was beautifully laid out and very clean. We met the owner during our stay who was really friendly and welcoming. We hope to return to the Old barn next year, as we will have more guests with us. Thank you.
We very much enjoyed our stay. This was our fourth visit to this location and we certainly will have no hesitation in returning. Our cottage was very well equipped and we loved the peace and quiet.
Excellent as always.
Loved our holiday, Jane was very welcoming and the standard of accommodation was excellent.
Yes we did. A very enjoyable 2nd stay. Many thanks to all involved.
Thoroughly enjoyed, hospitality excellent nothing was a problem. Cottage and grounds beautiful
Jane was an exceptional host, this was a return visit as we enjoyed it so much last year. this is a hidden gem in the devon countryside
Cottage furnished to a high standard and very clean. We enjoyed our stay.
We enjoyed our stay at Calf Pen very much. The accommodation was excellent. From the warm welcome we received to thought that has gone into the surroundings and the barns, to ensure a comfortable and relaxed environment, meant that we were able to enjoy our holiday in a way that exceeded expectations.
Very much, and we'd like to return, hopefully, next year. Jane, the owner, is lovely and helpful but never intrusive. She has obviously worked very hard to provide high quality accommodation in a very tranquil setting. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would recommend it highly.
we enjoyed our holiday so much we have already booked the calf pen for next year! Excellent attention to detail by Jane, the whole set up was perfect for us as a family and the dog. Perfect
This was our second stay at the Calf Pen. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back. The owner was wonderful and could not do enough for us.
The cottage complex is very well laid out, we stayed in The Calf Pen which was found spotless on arrival with a full set of top quality furnishings
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the calf pen. The attention to detail really made our whole experience. Freshly cut flowers and a bottle of wine greeted us on our arrival. Comfy beds, crisp clean linen and fluffy towels were all provided and immaculately clean. The furnishings were lovely making the place feel like a home from home. The immediate area is of outstanding natural beauty, away from the bustle of town but close enough to find amenities, stunning walks, beaches, trams, cows and fossils. We had one rainy day and I have to say I was glad as we got to light the log burner. Our Son and Daughter 13 and 15 also enjoyed their stay, they were really happy to have good connections to wifi and TV to wind down after all the activities during the day. Buddy, our Golden Retriever also made himself at home, he loved going for walks around the pond and private fields. There are plenty of pubs, restaurants and tea rooms which accept dogs in the local towns of Colyton, Seaton, Sidmouth, Beer, Branscombe and Lyme Regis. The beaches in these towns also had dog friendly areas meaning our whole family had a fantastic week together. We definitely recommend this location and accommodation. Many thanks to the new owner Jane who made us feel so welcome. Andrew and Lisa Walker
This was a truly delightful holiday. We were just looking for a break but this was so much more. The quirky accommodation was charming and comfortable and the owner Jane could not have been more solicitous or helpful. We loved the many bird feeders and the feeling that we and the environment were being cared for , it was most restful and restorative.
I stayed in the Calf Pen recently, 14th-17th June, 2016 with my sister Miss Lesley Mitchell. The whole cottage complex is excellent and our cottage was very impressive. I would give it 5 star plus, Jane, the owner has supplied everything you need from hair dryers, toiletries etc., even a bottle of wine. We really enjoyed our stay in the Calf Pen and would recommend it to everyone. Hope to go back next year with my husband.
