Tucked away behind South Sands beach in Salcombe, this self contained apartment is set amongst beautiful gardens and surrounding countryside where you can hear the sound of a babbling brook and birdsong in a quiet and relatively unknown backwater, yet only a few minutes walk to the beach and close to the popular sailing centre of Salcombe.

Three flights of stairs up to the apartment. Small utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer. Open plan living room and kitchen. The living area has large curved picture windows with exquisite landscape views. Three seater sofa and two armchairs, dining table with four chairs, flat screen TV/DVD and a portable CD/radio. Kitchen area with fridge/freezer, electric oven, ceramic hob and microwave. Double bedroom, 4ft 6in bed and basin. Bathroom with bath, electric shower over bath, basin, heated towel rail and WC.  Twin bedroom with 3ft beds, basin and large window with country views.

Opposite the front door is a fenced raised patio with garden table and four chairs and walks into the lovely gardens that drop down to the entrance where you can hear the sound of running water from the stream, which runs along the garden boundary.

For 2 cars and a boat trailer.

  • Included: Duvets, pillows (no bed linen or towels although linen can be hired from the owner’s at £9 per set).
  • Electricity: By £1 slot meter.
  • Heating: Electric oil heaters and partial central heating in the bedrooms (controlled from owners’ house).
  • Telephone: No telephone. Mobile reception variable depending on network. 
  • Local Facilities: Sandy beach at South Sands, 10 minutes walk. Shops, pubs and restaurants all in Salcombe.

Yes it was restful and peaceful. Near to the beaches. It was very clean and welcoming lovely views. My only issue was no wi-fi.

Very friendly landlord on site but not at all intrusive. Beautiful location and easy access walking to a stunning beach. A thoroughly enjoyable stay and would definitely book again.

What a wonderful place to stay - the owner Mr Greaves was a lovely man and made us very welcome by putting the kettle on as soon as we arrived. The accommodation was very well equipped and could not fault anything at all. It was a lovely quiet location and a bird watchers paradise. Will certainly being using Toad Hall again if not here but at other possible accommodation. Many many thanks from all of us

The property was in a beautiful location we slept really well as it was comfortable and very peaceful. The approach was along some very narrow roads so driving in and out was sometimes a little tricky. The apartment had some steep steps so would not be appropriate for those with mobility issues . However we enjoyed some lovely walks in the surrounding area and were able to walk into Salcombe centre in around half an hour and to the nearest beach in about 10 - 15 minutes. The owners were on hand to help out but allowed us privacy at all times. They were friendly and approachable

We have, as a family, stayed at this accommodation for about 3 or 4 years. It was absolutely superb ..... relaxing - BIG tick, clean - another BIG tick, accommodating - yes, even BIGGER tick. and the owners made every stay very stay enjoyable! A lovely walk to the nearest beach, short ferry to the bustling, magical little town of Salcombe; all within a wave of a wonderful wand!! Walks, high quality shops and restaurants, all weaved into the tapestry of the town to make any holiday here memorable and enjoyable ! Nostalgic memories from The Atkins Family!

Having used Toad Hall Cottages three times now what I really value is the honesty of the star ratings and the value for money. We have really appreciated having good value cottages that may be fairly basic but are clean and well looked after. We have found the photographs and descriptions to be very accurate - they "are what they say on the tin". This apartment was in a fantastic location (although the steps will limit some). Beautiful surroundings and ten minutes walk to the beach at South Sands. The apartment was clean and well looked after and the owners were discrete and delightful.
