<p>On the southern bank of Newton Creek is Noss Mayo, a charming little sailing village less than a mile from the coast. Across the water is the neighbouring village of Newton Ferrers, and during the summer months a river taxi ferries passengers between the two harbours. Noss Mayo has two&nbsp;beautiful waterside pubs, The Swan and The Ship Inn, and is only six miles away from the maritime city of Plymouth. On the hillside, with stunning estuary views from its verandah, is <a href="/holiday-cottages/the-old-chapel/1113">The Old Chapel</a>. This unusual property has been imaginatively converted from a former 19th century chapel and presents an open plan living area with impressive vaulted ceilings, feature windows, and splendid honey oak floors. <a href="/holiday-cottages/battery-cottage/294">Battery Cottage</a> is a delightful couple&rsquo;s retreat overlooking the gorgeous Yealm estuary. Built on the site of a 14th century fortification, there still remains evidence of the dry moat. Here, the South West Coast Path passes the front doorstep, winding through the steep wooded valley towards the Great Mew Stone that marks the entrance to the Yealm and the magnificent headland beyond. Nestled into the hillside and close to the tranquil waters of Bridgend Quay, is <a href="/holiday-cottages/oystercatchers/1751">Oystercatcher</a>, the perfect choice for a couple&rsquo;s getaway. This beautifully presented annexe has a sheltered glass balcony where you can enjoy the setting sun after your day exploring the surrounding coastline. Oystercatcher&nbsp;is a splendid location from which to discover this gorgeous inlet and the South Hams beyond.
