Description

This attractive stone cottage is situated on the edge of the delightful little village of Churchinford in the heart of the Blackdown Hills. It is set on one side of the courtyard of Ford Farm, an immaculate small holding with just a handful of the relatively rare and charming little Dexter cows, unusual Shetland sheep, along with a fine collection of free-range geese, ducks and chickens.  Guests will even be greeted by the owner's friendly dogs!

This is a Designated Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and rightly so, being a tranquil, beautiful and relatively isolated landscape on the Devon Somerset border.  The nearby lakes of the Otterford Estate are a popular place for walkers, particularly for their rich flora and fauna and for the historical remains of the house and also the Victorian garden.  A nearby farm shop where you can buy quality foods of all kinds and enjoy a meal in the restaurant.  A yearly weekend fixture, held in August, which is always great fun, is the Churchinford beer and music festival.

‘Ford Farm has to be one of Toad Hall’s best kept secrets!  Located in a sleepy village in Somerset down a very quiet lane. What so many people don’t realise is that for exploring the West Country be it Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, it has to be just about the best location ever.  You are in Devon in a second and the majority of ‘attractions’ are within a 30 minute drive in any direction - this includes the seaside! The ‘Stable’ is a very comfortable and immaculate cottage.  The facilities were 5 star.  You would never guess that this was a working farm, it is so tidy and very pretty.  The owners were wonderful and nothing was ever too much trouble. They were more than happy to give us advice on the local area and places to visit.  Please also pass on our thanks to them for allowing us to share their dogs, sheep, chickens etc. It really made the holiday!’

July 2014

A lovely peaceful location but with easy access to both north & south coasts. A good variety of attractions locally. Excellently equipped & furnished cottage, beautifully clean. We were particularly taken with the friendliness of all we met, the pub was pleasingly close and the food good value, and the shop was amazingly well stocked and priced.

May 2014

Magical week at Ford Farm with my animal-crazy two year old twins. Beautiful surroundings in a lovely cottage. No frills but that's just what you want with little ones. Beds VERY comfortable and I loved having a break from the washing for a week!

September 2013

We had a lovely week at Ford Farm Cottage - lots to see and do in this area, with great countryside and the coast a short drive away.

July 2013

The owners and the property were amazing. Could only be made more perfect with the addition of a washing machine and washing line!!!

May 2013

We adored this converted barn the second we saw it, set in a tiny, picturesque village. Sandra and her family were lovely hosts and there when we needed them. Cannot fault the quality of the furnishings and it was sooooo lovely, I could have moved in!! Centrally located to most areas in the South and the countryside surrounding the cottage was just divine. As my husband and I are photographers, we had more than plenty to photograph! I fell in love with one of the hand reared lambs who thought he was a dog and would have loved to have taken her home with me. Delightful stay and would certainly love to visit again!

May 2013

Ford Farm was just gorgeous and Sandra and her family lovely hosts. They weren't intrusive but there when we needed them. The converted barn we stayed in was DELIGHTFUL and the village and surroundings just gorgeous. Beautiful part of the Country with easy access to most places. Will definitely stay here again
