Grants Cottage, an attractive and welcoming substantial Grade II property dating back to the 1600’s, is situated at the bottom of one of Dartmouth’s original stepped entrances and enjoys a tucked away and peaceful location in the heart of this historic maritime town.  The accommodation is set over three floors and has been lovingly restored and modernised whilst retaining original features and charm.  Perfectly suited to families, it boasts flexible living accommodation, en suite bedrooms as well as a private courtyard wonderful for alfresco dining.  The property is also very welcoming of dogs, and what better to return to the cottage and snuggle up in front of the wood stove after exploring one of the many superb local coastal walks.  If discovering Dartmouth’s unique selection of boutiques, galleries, restaurants and bistros is a priority, then the cottage is ideally situated with all of Dartmouth’s excellent facilities being only moments from its front door.  With a wide range of fabulous local events taking place in the town, Grants Cottage is a great holiday home at any time of the year.

Front door opens into entrance hallway.  Cosy and characterful sitting room with an inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove, feature wall with wood inlays, large corner sofa and flat screen TV with DVD player.  The dining kitchen enjoys a window seat looking up Browns Hill steps.  The kitchen is very well equipped to include an electric oven and grill, microwave, built in fridge, dishwasher and a large dining table to seat eight upon chairs and stools.  A separate light and airy conservatory room with doors opening into the rear courtyard garden provides additional seating and a perfect den for children with a TV, DVD player and X-Box to entertain.   A utility cupboard off the conservatory houses a washing machine and a counter top freezer.  Curved wooden stairs lead up to the first and second floors where all the bedrooms boast televisions, wardrobes with built-in drawers as well as window seats with views to the front of the property.  Bedroom 1 with king size bed and ornate fireplace.  Bedroom 2 with twin beds.  Modern bathroom with bath with shower over, hand basin and WC.  Second floor Master bedroom with superb king size wrought iron four poster bed, feature fireplace and en suite with shower, hand basin and WC.  Bedroom 4 with double bed and en suite with shower, hand basin and WC. 

Fully enclosed and private rear courtyard garden which is perfect for al fresco dining or pre dinner drinks and is furnished with a table and chairs and barbecue.  It also has a tap and is secure for storing bikes.

One parking permit is supplied for Mayors Avenue car park which is a short level walk from the property and which can also be used in a number of other car parks across the South Hams. An additional parking permit can be hired for £40 per week - please contact Toad Hall Cottages for more details. Unloading may be possible within yards from the property.

Please note: This property accommodates 8 across 4 bedrooms but due to the size of the living areas, the property is better suited to a maximum of 6 adults.

Loved it and although lacking a garden it is not great for dogs my boy wonder managed fine. I particularly liked having two en-suites on a separate floor so I can invite friends to stay without them being on top of me. Kitchen a bit cramped but there's not much you can do about that.

We had a great stay overall. The location of the cottage was superb and held lots of interesting and helpful information for us to find places of interest. We would stay again.

This was a great holiday and all the family enjoyed the cottage. The location was amazing stepping through the front door right onto Foss Street! Wonderful. A huge plus was the use of two car park permits which more than paid for themselves in convenience and piece of mind in various car parks used during our visit. Excellent service offered by yourselves where we felt valued as customers and we'd more than happily recommend you to others.

The downstairs of the house is small but the location is excellent and the 6 of us and the 2 dogs had a wonderful holiday. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds very comfortable. Dartmouth is an excellent base to explore the south devon coast and there is lots to do close by.

Grants Cottage was ideal. Very comfortable , well equipped and a perfect location for all facilities in Dartmouth and the surrouning area. Clean and spotless and the housekeeper should be congratulated. The bottle of wine was a lovely gesture - thank you. Marilyn and Mike Smith

The cottage was perfect for our requirements. Close to the center of Dartmouth and the car park yet remained very quite and peaceful. Great location. We can not fault Toad Hall. Helpful a pleasure to deal with. It won't be long before we are using them again.
