Set on the banks of the Dart estuary in the heart of South Devon, on the outskirts of the pretty village of Dittisham, just upstream from the historical port of Dartmouth, Gurrow Cottage shelters in mature gardens on a private gated estate surrounded by water on three sides with magnificent views. This is one of the prettiest estuaries in the South West and it's easy to envisage enjoying a relaxing holiday in a delightful detached waterside holiday cottage with a private slipway where you can launch your own boat. Guests are free to wander the 80 acres of woods and pastureland on the estate and enjoy the 1.5 miles of river frontage. Launch your boat and explore upstream, tying up alongside the quayside in the Bohemian town of Totnes or alternatively drift lazily downstream to Dartmouth and the open sea beyond. This sheltered and widest part of the estuary is perfect for canoeing, wind surfing or dinghy sailing (tide permitting) and for landlubbers there's no excuse for not keeping fit as guests also have use of a tennis court and pavilion. The modern cottage is immaculately presented in a pleasing contemporary style with a lovely conservatory dining room, garden patio and spacious lounge with woodburner.
Please Note: Children over the age of 8 are very welcome as are immobile babies, but owing to the proximity of 5 unfenced ponds the owners feel it prudent not to expose younger children to any danger. (Guests are required to sign a health and safety disclaimer if they have children under 8 years).
Door into small hallway. Sunny carpeted sitting room with sofa and two armchairs, woodburner stove and 42 inch flat screen TV and DVD. French windows to rear patio. The sitting room extends into a lovely sandstone floor tiled conservatory and dining area extension with views through the trees to the water. French windows to garden terrace Off the sitting room is a cloakroom with shower cubicle, hand basin and WC. Kitchen with ceramic hob, electric oven and grill, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and microwave, door to terrace. From the sitting room stairs to the first floor. Double bedroom with 5ft bed. Built in hanging space and drawers. Master bedroom with 6ft bed, fitted wardrobe and dressing table. En-suite bathroomwith bath, hand basin and WC. This bathroom also links to the Bunk bedroom with 3ft bunk beds and contemporary tallboy with integral mirror and drawers.
Large garden terrace with garden table, chairs and sunshade. Smaller secluded patio to the rear of the property that catches the evening sun. The cottage is set in its own plot and screened from the main house with trees and shrubs. Guests have use of the tennis court and pavillion. (Please supply your own rackets and balls).

Wonderful break for Christmas. Easy check-in and caretaker of the property was friendly and also about if required. Will recommend to friends and family.
Fabulous property in tranquil setting......caretaker Carlo very helpful and friendly......
Great location, quite and relaxing yet close enough to lots of things to do around and about for adults and kids alike. Would highly recommend a car though. The owner and staff were really welcoming and helpful. The grounds were beautiful. I didn't want to come home.
Homely Cottage in lovely grounds. Wellies definitely needed to enjoy the walks. Very close to river but trees obscure view.
Beautiful cottage in a wonderful, peaceful location
We did enjoy our stay and had a wonderful two weeks. The house is in a great location with the river so close by. We enjoyed visiting local beaches such as hope cove, Bantham and south Milton. All excellent beaches. We also enjoyed hiring boats from dittisham boat hire and Marshall sailing school. Great use of the tennis court and the children loved biking round the gardens.
Gurrow Point,a wonderful unique place to stay.Have recommended to family and friends.
We had a lovely week; the owners and caretaker are kind and discrete. View would be hugely improved by removal of undergrowth and scrubby trees in front, with no detriment to the environment. Kitchen is small but well equipped - everything is good quality. More cutlery would be helpful. Grounds and surroundings are wonderful. Kayak launching difficult except at high tide, as shore is on an outside bend of the river and there is a huge expanse of mud. Would definitely recommend this property.
Wonderful relaxing week in a great location. Much tennis playing and kayaking enjoyed.
What a beautiful, peaceful setting. Loved the walking and Autumn sunshine.
Thanks to the team for a memorable holiday on the banks of the River Dart and for the pleasure we have enjoyed at Gurrow Point.
Gurrow Point Cottage was lovely and we would certainly use Toad Hall Cottages for future cottage rentals.
Fantastic, peaceful location. Perfect for a relaxing break. 5 star!
We had a fabulous time at Gurrow Point Cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed the private access to the river for fishing and kayaking, and the use of the tennis court. It was lovely to have all that space to explore in complete privacy; the views were fantastic. And being able to stroll into Dittisham, where parking is limited, was a real bonus.
Fabulous views, house and grounds wonderful, very comfortable beds. Lovely welcome from owners, almost want to keep this a secret!
