Low lying and therefore a bit gloomy when wet/foggy but nice grounds and beautiful countryside. Simon the caretaker pleasant and helpful.
Our second visit to this comfortable cottage which is set in lovely grounds complete with duck pond and orchard.Everything we needed was supplied -very comfortable beds and a cosy lounge area.We just love the peace and quiet of the place -but it's handy to visit Dartmouth -Totnes-Salcombe etc.To us it's a little slice of heaven .
Wonderful place to stay, we will come again. Thank you and Simon for a great time at Buckland court
This place is a little slice of heaven. The cottage worked well for us as a family, we especially enjoyed the downstairs aspect. To have the ducks, owls, gardens and cows was an added bonus to the cottage setting. Simon was fab, helpful and very welcoming. What Simon adds to the experience of living here is invaluable in regards to a constant point of contact who takes time to inform and to also spend time educating the children about their surroundings. The utility room with the pool table etc was also appreciated by the children, thank you.
What a lovely place, just right for our family. Cosy and well appointed, we have enjoyed ourselves here very much (and the kids loved the summer house!) Simon is a star and has been amazingly helpful, thanks to all. Stephen Marshall and family
Thank you for a wonderful stay at Hawthorn cottage. It was a family holiday and it was superb. Love the gardens and surrounds. Many thanks, Beryl, Duncan, Claire and Ralph.
Have spent 2 weeks in this beautiful spacious cosy cottage and will be sorry to leave. It is so quiet and peaceful with lovely grounds and scenic views. Have enjoyed talking to Simon the caretaker – a lovely helpful man. Had long lovely lunches at Stokeley, try the Sunday roasts. Plenty to do round here or you can just relax and listen to the quietness and birdsong. Thank you for the welcome pack of wine crisps and orange juice, most welcome indeed. Had a great holiday and hope to come back soon. Julie Warner, Leicester
Six of us came here for a few days for Tribal Clash , a cross fit competition. We love the cottage. It is so spacious and wonderfully clean, a very important point for me! We didn't have any issues and Simon the manager was extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. We were welcomed with a little welcome pack of crisps and wine which was perfect after a 10 hour drive! Would love to come again! Mr Humphries, Newmarket.
I think in terms of the weekly charge for the cottage cost of laundry facilities for Hawthorne should be included in cost. That said, cottage was superb, very tasteful and well decorated plus very clean and comfortable. The grounds are also immaculate.

Glad that you loved the cottage and grounds and had a good holiday. The owners are looking into the charges for laundry facilities for future bookings. We hope that the small charges incurred won't stop you coming to this idylic spot again. The Toad Hall team.
