Description

Nestled within the peaceful South Hams village of Harbertonford, Hideaway offers ideal year round holiday accommodation for both families and couples seeking a slice of laid back Devon at its best.  This delightful end of terrace country cottage has been sympathetically renovated and lovingly furnished to offer modern facilities whist retaining plenty of charm and character.  The stunning dining kitchen won’t fail to impress with its folding doors which open onto a sunny terrace and garden which bring the outside in; whilst, the living room boasts a welcoming wood stove to snuggle up in front of.

The friendly village of Harbertonford is set amongst Devon’s beautiful rolling countryside, and it boasts a thriving village shop.   For those who can tear themselves away from the sunny garden, the village is well placed for exploring South Devon’s many areas of interest as well as the stunning Dartmoor National Park.  The cottage is just 3 miles from the bustling riverside mediaeval town of Totnes which is famed for its unique selection of boutiques, pubs and cafes where several days of exploring can be easily whiled away.  Alternatively, head for the coast with Dartmouth’s glistening waters being just 20 minutes’ drive away as are popular beaches and coastline at Blackpool Sands and Slapton.

Ground floor: Light dual aspect sitting room with feature stone fireplace inset with a wood burning stove, two large sofas, smart TV with Freeview Sky channels and Blue-ray DVD.  Amazing open plan dining kitchen room.   Dining area with feature antique range (not in use) and table to comfortably seat 6. Large kitchen with modern units and Rangemaster double range oven with five gas ring hob, microwave, two fridge drawers, dishwasher and island unit with breakfast bar stools.  Separate utility cupboard with a washer dryer and fridge freezer.   Full width bi-fold doors open into the garden. Cloakroom with WC and wash basin.  First floor:  Spacious master bedroom with king sized bed, wardrobe and two chest of drawers.  Twin bedroom with two 3ft single beds, wardrobe and chest of drawers.  Single bedroom with 3ft single bed with built in under bed drawers and hanging hooks.  Modern family bathroom with rectangular bath with rain shower fitting over, hand held shower attachment, wash basin and WC.

Gates from the parking area open into a sunny enclosed walled garden with barbecue.   A large paved terrace with table, chairs and parasol is perfect for al fresco dining.  Inset feature lighting ensures that this terrace can be enjoyed in the evening.  To one side steps rise into the kitchen dining room, and to the other side a few steps lead down to a grassed garden area which is bordered by mature shrubs.

Great stay. We were concerned that the gate handle fell off, so we left a note for the caretaker. Really well equipped and lovely furnishings.

Sorry you had that problem with the gate handle, but thanks for letting us know. It's being repaired. Delighted you enjoyed your stay.

April 2017

Lovely cottage. Nothing much to do in immediate vicinity to cottage but convenient location for driving to local towns/attractions. Rooms and decor were up to a good standard and kitchen well equipped with everything you could need. The small enclosed garden was also great for the dog. Would have liked a blind to the bathroom window - felt a little exposed to overlooking properties when showering with light and extractor fan on! Overall though, a nice and comfy base for exploring South Devon.

February 2017

Lovely place in a really nice area. Very comfortable and very well equipped. We hope we can return and enjoy Hideaway again :-)

July 2016

We stayed her with our 9 month old Puppy, the cottage is home from home (and more) we didn't want to leave, it has everything you need and a perfect base. The garden is small and enclosed and we enjoyed sitting out morning and evening listening to the birds. The cottage is spotlessly clean and the kitchen is extremely well equippped with everything you need. Everywhere we planned to visit was within 20 - 30 min drive (you do need a car!) This part of Devon is beautiful, I particularly enjoyed Dartmouth! Enjoy the walk from Slapton Sands to Beesands and walk back along the beach if the tide is out! Thank you for a most enjoyable stay.

Lovely cottage, well equipped and we loved the wood burner. Enjoyed Bigbury on sea, crabbing at Dittisham and Dartmouth, Salcombe, Beesands as well as all the dog friendly beaches.

Delightful cottage. Enjoyed it very much as a base for Dartmoor and the coast. We will definitely return again.
