We had a brilliant holiday even though the weather was poor. The house is gorgeous, well equipped and very comfortable. John and Susie are very welcoming hosts and live in a beautiful location. We all fell in love with Meg, Blue and Cardi! The only thing we didn’t enjoy was the narrow roads, we seemed to spend more time in reverse than forwards!!
Thia was a lovely property, excellent for our family get together. Thoroughly recommend it to anyone contemplating a similar event. Mix of bedrooms was perfect.
Yes, despite the poor weather. We had 5 children with us and they were happy to play on the trampoline in the rain. The garden was just the right size for cricket and rounders. The owners were very friendly and helpful. They have 2 very well trained dogs, who wanted to play with the children, but did not venture into the house. We had a good time and have already booked with you (another house) for the same week next year.
We've just come back from having spent 2 wonderful weeks on Hingston Farm. We were a party of 11 - 2 families, youngest 18. We've been going away as a group for the past 15 years and we unanimously said this was one of the best holidays we've had. The location is amazing, views to die for - particularly enjoyed walking across their fields early in the morning with our dogs (
We had a wonderful stay at Hingston Farmhouse. We had a big party of guests ranging in age from 3 years to 70 years and everyone was comfortable and happy. The bedrooms are exactly as described on the website and all of them were excellent. There are plenty of bathrooms for the number of guests and each one of them is modern, clean and comfortable. Importantly there are also masses of other spaces (kitchen, two living rooms, outside space) so everyone felt like they could find space to do what they wanted to without being on top of one another. We were very lucky with the weather but I imagine it would be a wonderfully cozy place to spend a rainy afternoon - by the fire, in the kitchen etc. Susie and John, the owners of the house, live in another property beside the farmhouse and they are extremely welcoming and friendly people. They went above and beyond to ensure that we were happy during our stay at Hingston Farmhouse. They showed our children (and the grown ups!) around the farm and were always happy to answer our questions about farm life (we learnt a lot!) and give the children a chance to collect eggs, feed pigs, ride horses etc. And of course there were the farm dogs who played so happily with our dog and kept the children entertained for hours. Quite simply, it was the 'holiday on the farm' that city parents dream of for their children. If you are considering this house then you will probably already know how charming the local area is so I will not go into that here. Yes, Salcome, and the beaches at Bantham, Bigbury and Thurleston are as wonderful as you remember from your childhood summers! The only downside is that it is such a popular area that, in August at least, the beaches and towns are rather overrun with too many visitors.
This was a lovely homely house, equipped with everything we needed for a wonderful holiday with eight adults, six children and two toddlers. We all enjoyed the garden and the view, the children loved the trampoline, the horses, dogs and chickens, (we made a delicious yellow sponge cake with the eggs) and the tractors, combine harvester and potato digger. John and Susie were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The flapjacks were delicious. Many thanks, we hope to come back soon. The Chandler Family.
Great base for our family get together (12) ranging in ages from 1 to 70. The house is spacious, comfortable and well equipped. We never felt in each others way even with 9 adults creating chaos in the kitchen at mealtimes. It's perfectly located for exploring this lovely part of England. Local beaches are great for surfing, swimming or just lazing and sandcastles. Farther afield we did Torquay and The Eden project with no trouble. We will be back to sample Susie's flapjacks, the lovely fresh eggs and the closeness it spread through our lovely family. Sue Clive et al.
The perfect venue for our large family gathering/reunion. Fantastic views up the Avon valley.Peaceful local walking and close to towns, beaches,Dartmoor, golf and anything you could want. Good local shops for provisions and many excellent eating options near by. The house itself was much better than expected.Very well equipped spacious and comfortable. 3 fridges, 2 dishwashers and 2 TVs. A large kitchen for all 13 of our group to eat in together. Adequate parking and storage outside.Comfortable beds.Unlimited hot water. Games, jigsaws, films, books, maps. Really excellent. Highly recommended. Reminded me how beautiful the South Hams area is. We intend to return with a group of friends !
Super warm welcome, great access to the beach, nice local shop, tasty local restaurant and amazing views (as long as it's not raining). Whether you're a surfer, or just wanting to get away this area and this place has everything you need. The living room is nice, but the kitchen really is the hub of the home, whether you have 6 people or 13 as we did! All rooms are generously sized and the beds are very comfy. No issues with hot water, or cooking facilities and utensils. Hope to come and stay again in the future.
