We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will recommend the cottage to others
Fabulous cottage - home from home The roads leading to the cottage were difficult on occasions as extremely narrow and at times carried a fair amount of traffic. On the whole a very comfortable stay at Hornblower.
Hornblower cottage was very well furnished and the village location was ideal. It is in a lovely part of south Devon with many interesting places to visit and the coastal walks are superb. We very much enjoyed our stay.
Hornblower Cottage, Holbeton, South Devon (Toad Hall, June 2018) Hornblower Cottage in Holbeton is great. The place was immaculately clean, the large bed is very comfortable and the shower is superior. Hornblower is charmingly old and has been kitted out beautifully. The kitchen faucet has a swivel aerator, the first I’ve seen in any kitchen in the UK. The toilet seat is a soft-close type. Light switches on both sides of a room turn on the same lights, that sort of thing. There’s a for-real tumble clothes dryer, as well as a very clever clothes drying rack. There are footstools nested under the coffee table. Stephanie Mill, the landlady, has thought of everything. She told us what road to take getting in and out of the village (Fore Street), way better than the road the GPS sent us down (avoid Vicarage Hill!). Big difference although they look the same on the Ordnance Survey map and GPS. There’s no parking in front of the cottage but she has arranged with the Mildmay Colours pub (1 minute away) for parking. The village is lovely and picturesque. We had an excellent Sunday roast lunch at the Dartmoor Union up the street. We were afraid the low price (£8.95) might reflect the quality but it didn’t.
We had a great stay at Hornblower cottage, everything you need inside, kids loved the Smart TV and games room and their cosy bedroom. Lovely pup nearby and the area is great, within 15-30min you can reach anything you need to entertain your children with beaches and walks.
Great property, superb location. Couldn't ask for more and we will look at returning soon.
Thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing stay. Very comfortable cottage with every convenience provided. Only two downsides, both presumably beyond the company's control: lack of WiFi and phone landline apparently due to a storm the previous week - the caretaker and manager were extremely helpful in this matter; and limited parking in village of Holbeton, especially near cottage, particularly inconvenient when loading/unloading car.
A beautiful cottage – we have had a lovely time – the games room a bonus! Visited lots of lovely places.
What a great cottage! A real home from home with lots of lovely touches. We had a really wonderful week. Lovely, friendly village too. Lots of great places to visit – we loved Salcombe, Dartmouth, Bigbury & Burgh Island, and Noss Mayo. Thank you so much for letting us stay in your lovely cottage.
Beautiful cottage – pool and air hockey a fun added extra! Too many local attractions to list, but highlights include Noss Mayo (recommend The Ship Inn), Wembury for rock pooling, Overbecks, Brixham, Plymouth Hoe, and Salcombe!
Wonderful cottage in lovely village. Lots of nearby attractions to see and do – National Aquarium in Plymouth, Hoe and Lido too. South Devon Steam Railway at Buckfastleigh was great. Fab beaches too!!
As wonderful a stay as twelve months ago. The cottage is so well appointed and comfortable, all the conveniences of home but in a much more attractive setting. We started and finished the week with dinner at the Mildmay Colours where the beer and wine are great and the pub food is good, honest and generous , and not at all expensive
We had an excellent stay !
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in lovely cottage: very clean and well equipped. Enjoyed breakfasts in the garden. Very pretty village with friendly locals and pubs. Would recommend without hesitation.
Everything was perfect. Beautiful cottage, comfy and very well equipped. Thanks a lot!
We have had a lovely break, cottage is splendid, we wanted for nothing! Will certainly recommend to our friends. Thank you.
Couldn't ask for anything – will recommend with no hesitation. Well stocked and near to Mothecombe!!!

Lovely cottage, a great holiday thank you. Wonderful coastal walks.
Lovely cottage in a lovely village. Enjoyed playing the Air Hockey! Local pubs good too.
Thank you for allowing us to holiday in your lovely cottage.
Wonderful cottage. Very comfortable.
A lovely cottage in a delightfully quiet and attractive village. The cottage is in excellent condition, and the owners have been very helpful and accomodating. We had a most enjoyable stay, and enjoyed the hospitality of the two village pubs as well as many of the surrounding attractions. Highly recommended.
