Langerstone is a magnificent holiday house in a spectacular position. Situated on the edge of East Prawle village with the coastal path at the end of the drive, the house is set high above Langerstone Point on the southernmost tip of Devon. The stunning 180 degree views over farmland and coastline to the sea, sweep round from Start Bay lighthouse to Prawle Point. Surrounded by spacious enclosed gardens, this superb home, renovated with style and imagination, features a fabulous indoor heated swimming pool complete with adjoining sun terrace. The spacious rooms are of the highest quality, extremely comfortable and beautifully furnished. From the terrace, light floods through the large patio doors into most rooms, bringing the views right into the heart of the house. Everything has been thought of to provide fun for all the family, from the swimming pool to the table tennis table, big screen TV and the superb dining areas both inside and out. Here there are endless opportunities for memorable cliff walks; sailing, restaurants and shopping in the delightful town of Salcombe; exploring the many sandy coves; bird watching and much more.

Front door to hallway with cloakroom, basin and WC. Curved steps lead down into the superb living room with polished wood floors, a feature stone wall inset with a large wood burner, comfortable seating area with sofas and a  42” flat screen TV/DVD, CD/tape player and plenty of books, games, CD’s and DVD’s. This huge room includes a table tennis table plus equipment and a step down to a fabulous sun room area very comfortably furnished with rattan furniture that faces the floor to ceiling windows with magnificent seascape views. Sliding doors open to the deck. The superb kitchen/diner is handsomely equipped and fitted with cream units, black granite work surfaces, a gas fired Aga, large fridge, separate ‘bio fresh’ fridge and freezer, an eye level oven, warming drawer and dishwasher. The central island has an electric ceramic hob and built-under oven. A fine dining table seats 12 and Lloyd Loom sofa and chairs cluster around the sliding doors to the terrace. Adjacent utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer and access to the side of the house. From the living room, steps down to a study area and desks with computer ISDN links. Corridor to the bedrooms, all with wonderful sea views, polished pine floors, large fitted cupboards and sliding doors that open to the terrace. 1. Master bedroom suite with 6ft 6in wide bed (zip linked base, cannot be converted into a twin) and private door into the indoor pool room. En-suite bathroomwith bath, shower over, separate double shower enclosure, basin in vanity unit and WC. 2. Twin bedroom with 3ft beds. 3. Children’s room with fine ‘Aspace’ full size 3ft bunk beds with a pull-out truckle bed beneath. Family walk-in shower room with rose head and hand showers, basin and WC. 4. Stairs rise at the rear of the house to a guest suite with a double 6ft bed (zip linked to convert to twins), views to Peartree Point and an en-suite shower room with large double shower, basin and WC.
The Pool Room: The indoor pool (8m x 4m), heated all year, is surrounded on three sides by floor to ceiling windows and three sets of doors open to the sun deck with steps down to the sweeping lawns. There is a changing room with basin, WC and large walk-in shower with rose head and hand shower.

A gated driveway leads up to Langerstone and there is ample parking. A fine terrace runs the entire length of the seaward side of the house, and wide lawns bordered by shrubs extend around two sides. Outside the dining room there is a barbecue area (gas) with dining table and chairs. The deck area outside the living room, screened with a glass-panelled balustrade, has open sided steps down to the lawns. There is a paved terrace outside the bedrooms and a railed deck area alongside the pool provided with sun loungers.

Ample with room for trailer and dinghy.

  • Local Facilities: Beach at Horsley Cove half mile walk. Sandy beach 2.5 miles at East Portlemouth and  pedestrian ferry to Salcombe. Pigs Nose pub and Piglet cafe and shop (open March to end of October) 5 minutes walk. Kingsbridge 9 miles.

We had a wonderful stay. The accommodation is very spacious for the number of guests, the pool is immaculate and the views are outstanding. Everything is very high quality and Amanda prepares the property to a very high standard.

We had a fantastic time. The house and swimming pool were excellent. The sea views were amazing and the sunrise from the balcony was absolutely stunning. What more did I want for my 50th Birthday? Answer - nothing other than some delicious food and wine which of course there was. We hope to come back.

Very enjoyable stay. Superb situation. We were three generations and the swimming pool kept the teenagers occupied when the rest of us wanted to relax.

A very relaxing and fun stay. It was a shame the local pub was dirty so we had to drive out for evening meals or cook at the house. We always take out shoes off in the house (as we do at home) which was how we found out about the stuck up nails.

Glad you had an enjoyable stay and very sorry about the nails. We are calling around there immediately to remove them.

Langerstone is a superb property. It's spacious, beautifully furnished and has a calm and bright atmosphere. The heated pool is just fabulous and the view is glorious. This was our second visit there and we were lucky enough to enjoy good weather on both occasions. Part of the reason for choosing it this year was that, had the weather been bad, being in such a lovely house with the indoor pool, the table tennis and plenty of books would have saved the day. Having such a nice pub nearby is a real bonus. The owners of Langerstone provide everything you need - the fact that it's someone's much loved home rather than an impersonal holiday let is very apparent. The only negative comment we can think of is that it's so hard to leave!

Everything about this property is 5 star. The views, the furnishing, the maintenance, and the attention to detail. We were a party of 3 generations who made lots of use of the pool, the table tennis and the proximity to the beach. The weather was chilly so we loved the log burner and the Aga. Thank you to the caretaker and the owners for the opportunity to experience such luxury!
