Close to the Devon/Cornwall border and only a couple of miles from the west side of Dartmoor, Chillaton is an attractive very peaceful, rural village in the heart of the Devon countryside. Little Forda is a charmingly converted and very comfortable former dairy attached to the 15th Century country house of Forda, set in its own enclosed grounds on the edge of the village. Only 6 miles from the ancient stannary town of Tavistock, close to the wonderful Lydford Gorge, (for gourmets the Horn of Plenty is a mere two miles) Little Forda, with its very welcoming owners, cosy and attractive beamed rooms and with very spacious and safe gardens, is an ideal base for a family holiday. This is very much a family home with a games room, free range chickens (and eggs!) swings and a wendy house. Pets made welcome.
Entry from gravelled driveway into slate floored entrance porch. Pretty kitchen with window looking onto the orchard garden, decorated with many delightful plates, wooden fronted units, electric cooker, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, table with seating for four, small dresser. (Use of automatic washing machine and large deep freeze, in separate area.) Small utility room for storage. Attractive sitting room with open stone fireplace (also an electric fire inset), three piece suite, books, pictures and ornaments. TV, DVD and video. Window overlooking the courtyard. Open tread stairs lead to spacious landing. Pretty double bedroom (4ft 6in bed) with cane furniture and fitted wardrobes inset with a vanity unit. Views across the gardens. Further ‘L’ shaped bedroom with small double bed (4ft), plus 3ft single bed, fitted cupboards and dual aspect windows. Well appointed bathroom with bath, separate electric shower, basin, WC and electric wall heater.
Immediately in front of the property is a sunny, enclosed shared gravelled courtyard with benches. To the side an attractively designed secluded garden with wrought iron furniture, ideal for outdoor dining. This garden leads to half an acre of level lawns and orchard with swings, wendy house, picnic table and further access to fields, one adjoining the garden, the others a short distance away. Sun loungers supplied. Games room with full size pool table, darts and table tennis.
Ample parking in courtyard.

Stunning venue excellent location for Dartmoor. Owners are a real delight, friendly and extremely helpful, we shall be back for our forth time next year
A great location and a lovely cottage.Hosts were more than helpful.Recommended.
Another lovely stay at Little Forda. We have been going now for 7 years and can't recommend it enough. The owners are so helpful and kind and it is in a stunning location. We will return.
Little Forda is in a wonderful location. Ted and Ann Clifford could not be more helpful or welcoming if they tried.
Little Forda is a lovely cottage with friendly and welcoming hosts.
The cottage was absolutely beautiful, the interior old fashioned (but in keeping with a cottage) and functional. The gardens are beyond belief, so fabulous. The rear orchard is a wonderful play area for children, complete with swings etc and wendy house. I used it to jog around each morning! The owners were charming and always available to help if needed - they have a gorgeous old dog called Murphy that the children soon adored. One of the key selling points for us was a games room (pool, table tennis, darts, board games, comfy sofa, heating etc) - ideal for rainy days and just great fun. The village itself is no more than one pub and a very occasionally open post office. The pub was only open in the evenings, so we didn't get to it with our little ones. The situation is very close to lots of great places to visit - particularly Cotehele, Morwellham Quay, Tavistock etc. We also drove down to the Eden Project, which was only 45 mins away. The Harris Arms is one of the best wine pubs in Britain and is 10 mins away - definitely worth a visit, the wine and food was incredible. Thoroughly recommend this cottage as a great place to stay.
We have just got back from a weeks holiday and can honestly say what a delight this place is. Set in quite outstanding countryside and gardens it is ideal for a relaxing getaway. The kids loved it, the garden is huge with play equipment and with a fab games room for them too! The owners were so nice, nothing was too much trouble and they were so friendly and kind. And we had fresh eggs everyday. The kids also got to feed the chickens and collect the eggs every day too. Inside, the cottage has everything you could ask for with a very well stocked kitchen. Would definately come back!
The cottage and location were superb. Mr & Mrs Clifford were a joy. Nothing was too much trouble
