It is without doubt that Lymelight, a brand new larch clad property set in a central but tucked away location in the Jurassic coastal town of Lyme Regis in West Dorset, won’t fail to captivate the creativity and interest for those seeking something a little bit different for a memorable holiday by the seaside.   Brimming with collected treasures, books and the owners’ display of artwork, the combination of modern stylish interiors with a superb light and bright open plan living area which spills into the front garden via floor to ceiling glass folding doors, offers families and discerning couples a luxury retreat from which to enjoy a relaxing holiday on the beach with great days out in the local area. Lymelight is a single storey home lovingly created with beautiful oak floors, top class en suites to two of the bedrooms, gardens to the front and rear, sea view glimpses are enjoyed from the terrace and the piece de resistance is the glorious open plan living area which brings the outside in.   

Within a ten minute walk, guests can meander down to Lyme Regis’s bustling sea front and promenade. Often referred to as the ‘Pearl of Dorset’, Lyme Regis is well known for its literary association with Jane Austin as well as its diverse geology which people from across the world flock to on the hunt for fossils. The historic old town retains an olde worlde charm with small streets filled with galleries, boutique shops and famed gastro restaurants and cafés.  Its sheltered south facing beaches are safe for children and water sports enthusiasts alike with great fishing and leisure boat opportunities available from the Cobb harbour.  For those who can tear themselves away from the beach, the surrounding rolling countryside, which is an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, boasts walking and cycling in abundance or perhaps while away a few days exploring pretty East Devon fishing villages such as Beer or Branscombe or head to the market town of Axminster to sample Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage.


Front door opens into:  Superb open plan living area with oak floors, centrally positioned wood burning stove (not avabailble for guest use) and large bi-folding doors from the dining area opening onto the front terrace and garden beyond.  Lounge area furnished with two sofas and two occasional chairs, TV, DVD player and a music centre with CD / iPod Dock.  Dining area with large table to comfortably accommodate eight guests.   Beautifully crafted kitchen area with Stoves range oven with five gas hob, grill and double oven, dishwasher, large fridge, double sink and an island unit with two stools.  Separate utility room with sink, microwave, freezer, washing machine and tumble drier.   Master bedroom with dual aspect views to the front, 5ft king size bed, chest of drawers and en suite bathroom with dressing room area with wardrobes, roll top bath, walk-in shower with ceiling rainfall head and hand shower fitting, wash basin and separate WC.   Bedroom 2 with views to the rear garden, 5ft king bed, wardrobe, en suite shower room with shower and circular glass wash basin. Separate WC and sink.  Bedroom 3 with two 3ft single beds.  Bedroom 4 with 4ft 6inch double bed and built-in wardrobes.  Contemporary family bathroom with shower with ceiling rainfall head and hand shower fitting, wash basin and WC. 

Lymelight enjoys two terraces and mature landscaped gardens to the front and rear of the property.  The rear garden boasts an elevated terrace from which to enjoy sunset vistas.  Folding doors from the living area open onto a large paved south face terrace to the front of the property which is furnished with tables and chairs, making it ideal for all day al fresco dining.

We had a lovely family holiday with wonderful weather. The house was ideal for small children with no stairs to trip or fall. We all enjoyed the pretty enclosed garden. It was a pleasure to stay at Lymelight - we didn't want to go home, we may be back another year!

Think I've said everything above. Felt like someone's home rather than a rental property. Lots of notes giving instructions stuck all around the house which some may find off putting but I didn't mind since it meant not damaging anything! Would recommend to friends though.

Lymelight has been designed to give a holiday feel with some fabulous touches throughout this stylish property but is also the chosen style of the owners who also use it. We loved our stay at Lymelight. All eight of the family felt very comfortable and relaxed in this lovely home. We especially loved all the art and open plan living. Thank you for letting us stay and we hope to book again!
