Here there is a treat in store, as discovering Oak Cottage is like finding a treasure hidden in the attic! Tucked in a quiet corner, charmingly furnished and well equipped with a delightful, private waterside terrace/quay, this cottage is simply not to be missed. Here is the best of all worlds - situated on the waterside of the picturesque tidal Hooe lake, a sheltered area of water off the Plym Estuary and close to Plymouth Sound in Devon, with stunning views across the ever changing waterscape scene with its abundance of wildlife, it is hard to believe that the historic centre of Plymouth is only a short distance away. The cottage has its own pontoon and a nearby slipway (boats by arrangement).
With many beautiful local sites to visit and plenty of coastal footpaths to explore, the cottage is close to the Mountbatten Diving Centre and Marina which hosts international yachting competitions and caters for top class sailing and other activities such as fishing, Deep Blue diver training and diving trips in and around Plymouth. Plymouth City Centre approximately 4 miles away is easily accessible by car or via a regular bus service, or take a local ferry ride across to the famous Barbican centre for restaurants and unusual shops. Visit the historic Hoe, Smeaton’s Tower, the National Marine Aquarium and The Citadel and further into the heart of the City there are theatres, cinemas and shops galore, a haven for shopaholics. All this on the doorstep of Oak Cottage.
Please Note: Due to the proximity of the lakeside wall which drops to the water below, whilst there is a lockable gate stopping children from accessing the pontoon, young children must not be left unattended in the garden, for their own safety.
“I’ve stayed in a lot of cottages, I don’t think I’ve ever stayed in one quite so comfortable, you have thought of everything - many thanks, we will be back for sure!” Karen, Hannah & Johnny

The stay was mostly enjoyable except being woken up by the builders next door during the week. The whole point of this trip was for my pregnant wife to rest and relax which was made harder by the sounds of the workman during the day.
Dog friendly and would highly recommend.
Nothing More to Say
Fabulous cottage - Thought of absolutely everything - Great location - Great links via water taxi to Plymouth and fantastic walks with the dog
We loved it!
It was ok
It was just perfect!
All had a great time. Home from home. For all of us even our animals. Thank you.
We enjoyed our stay, Oak cottage was comfortable & clean. The master bed was particular comfortable, with good quality sheets etc. and the sitting room & dining furniture was also comfortable. It was a great base for visiting various places, like Salcome & Dartmouth and with some lovely beaches and places to walk the dog nearby. Although the weather wasn't that great we didn't let it spoil our trip.
paceful place, nice cottage et nice town! good holidays for all the french family!!!
There was a lack of storage for food items purchased that wouldn't fit in the additional fridge however the extra fridge was great!
Lovely well equipped and comfortable cottage well located to explore south Devon
Lovely cottage in a great location!
A lovely relaxing place, even the dogs were chilled, ideal for Plymouth, good local pubs, good walks, and just a nice place to visit.
We very much enjoyed our stay in Oak Cottage. The location is perfect to explore the area - so much to see and do! Having the ferry to Plymouth within walking distance is another great thing, not to mention all the pubs on the way to Mount Batten... Oak Cottage is a perfect home from home, from sitting on the patio overlooking Hooe lake to enjoying the wood burner on a cold evening.
it was the most amazing place, and brilliant value for money, and probably literally saved my life :)
Oak cottage was home from home. A delight!
My girlfriend and I stayed in Oak Cottage for a long weekend and I have to say, it was exactly what we were looking for: Quiet, romantic, attractive and cosy. The cottage is beautiful on the inside, particularly the master bedroom, which has a high ceiling and low wooden beams running across it. The whole place was clean and tidy, and the kitchen was well-equipped. Location-wise, Hooe itself isn't the prettiest but it's nice enough and there are plenty of places to go if you're prepared to drive 5 minutes down the road. The owner was lovely, flexible with the arrival
