This beautiful thatched cottage in the north of the New Forest National Park is full of character and charm and perfect for a family holiday. Recently refurbished to a high standard throughout, the owners have thoughtfully created a welcoming living environment with all mod cons suitable for families or couples wanting adaptable and comfortable accommodation.
Originally built in the 17th Century the house has been extended at various times over the last two hundred years. The inglenook fireplace which has been recently exposed, beamed ceilings and some original cob walling add to the charm of the property.
The cottage provides four large, beautifully decorated, comfortable bedrooms with luxury beds for a great night’s sleep. There are four bathrooms, two upstairs, with a further bathroom and wet-room downstairs, all finished to a high standard.
The cottage is set within ½ an acre of well- fenced garden, mainly laid to lawn. A beautiful pergola with seating under catches the late evening sunshine and the separate patio area arranged with large table, chairs with parasol over and gas barbeque are perfect for outdoor dining.
Set in the quiet village of Redlynch there are many conveniences just a short distance away. The Kings Head pub nearby serves excellent food and there are convenience stores at Downton or Woodfalls both less than two miles away. Several hot food takeaways are within easy walking distance.
Just a short drive away you will find miles of open forest with cycle and walking routes available for a short stroll or ramble. The forest is enchanting with ponies, donkeys and other livestock roaming freely within the cattle grid boundary. Just a 20 minute drive away is the city of Salisbury and the sandy beaches at Bournemouth can be accessed in just 40 minutes.
Remnants is an excellent base for a holiday in the New Forest and we have no hesitation in recommending this lovely property for a large family or couples holiday.

Your cottage is wonderful and we have loved staying here for the weekend. Thank you so much for your kind generosity, it has been a delightful stay and we would recommend this cottage and area to everyone! Thank you so much.
Remnants is a spacious and extremely comfortable well equipped property. Clear and helpful notes have made using the appliances very easy. Beds comfortable and good quality linen. The weather this week was on the cool side so we didn't make full use of the garden. Although one dog thoroughly enjoyed running around. We had two meals in the Kings Head across the road, both of which were good. The welcome hamper was excellent and a daily paper appreciated as were the fresh flowers. The property has ample parking. During our stay we enjoyed a day at the Downton Cuckoo Fair. A lovely walk in Langley Wood. The cottage is in a fantastic setting and location.
Thank you so much for a wonderful week in Remnants. What a lovely cottage and surrounding area in the New Forest. Wonderful walks, cycling and cosying by the fire. Hurst Castle was worth a visit. See you again soon.
Lovely spacious house and garden. Well equipped kitchen which was great. Thanks for the parking clock and newspapers. We spent a day in Lymington which we would recommend. We would certainly recommend to friends and family.
Probably one of the best and well furnished properties we have stayed in. We love the New Forest and are frequent visitors.
Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely house, it has been a very comfortable few days. The cottage is a home from home and we felt it has provided a beautiful backdrop to our birthday celebrations. Thank you for leaving the toys for Charlie. We made good use of the kitchen and dining room as both were so well equipped. We also had a chef come to the house one night and cook for us. I have left his card as the meal was delicious. A really lovely weekend, thank you so much!
We have had a lovely relaxing stay in your great house! It really is on a human scale with the old features and new extensions making a great combination. As a surveyor I was very impressed by the standard of the finish, particularly the joinery. All our friends were impressed and our daughter was heard asking whether this was our country retreat! If only! Thank you
We have had a fabulous holiday here in Remnants. So comfortable and so well-equipped. We felt at home right away! The week has gone by so fast, which is a good sign - and we've enjoyed every single moment of it. Sorry to have to leave really. Thank you so much. It's been brilliant.
Remnants has been the perfect cottage for our group holiday. We have been very impressed with this beautiful home; we've cooked up some fantastic meals in the spotless kitchen, enjoyed the cosy living room, played card games, spent time enjoying some late evening sun in the garden... our only complaint is that we couldn't stay forever! We had a great time in Moors Valley which appealed to all of us and spotting deer of an evening when we strolled into Lover. This is an incredible part of the world.
We had a lovely time. The torrential rain didn't spoil things!! Fabulous cottage in a fine location. Thank you.
We had a lovely stay in Remnants. It's very well equipped, extremely comfortable and warm. We had a really enjoyable time visiting places in The New Forest, but were equally happy to stay in the cottage. Our holiday went by very quickly and we were sad to have to leave. We highly recommend it.
Remnants is a fabulous home from home, with impeccable attention to detail.
We really had a wonderful week in your beautiful cottage. We have stayed in numerous cottages but the care and thought you have put into Remnants made this one of our best stays. From the generous welcome pack to the fresh flowers, the water bowl for our dog and quality cutlery and crockery. The beds were amazingly comfy and the linen and towels luxuriously soft. Little touches like the torches by the beds and a plentiful supply of household cleaning products, toilet rolls, the daily newspaper and local information were really appreciated and sets Remnants apart from others. They may only be little things but to us they make all the difference. Many thanks again.
I cannot think of anything which this property lacks for a comfortable holiday. We also thought that the position was excellent. Being on the edge of the New Forest we were away from the business and bustle of Lyndhurst / Brockenhurst etc but yet out of the front gate and turn left, all the peace nd joy of the forest was there on the doorstep.
A fantastic weekend at Remnants. The cottage is the best equipped that we've visited, everything appears to have been thought of! Although the weather wasn't kind to us the selection of games kept the kids occupied and Salisbury is only 20 minutes away. The Kings Head serves a fantastic Sunday Roast with a very friendly atmosphere and a good selection of beers. A very relaxing weekend and we hope to return soon.
The most beautiful, thought out and well equipped holiday house we have ever stayed in. Thank you so much for sharing your home. We visited Salisbury, Christchurch, Lymington, Lyndhurst, Beaulieu & Winchester. All fabulous. Lovely meal across the road, happy holidays.
Wow, what a house! Thank you for a fantastic week - we didn't want to leave. One of the best holiday houses we have stayed in. Well equipped, spotlessly clean and very homely. Everything we needed was here! We all loved the garden, especially the children and Barney the dog. The extra special touches for the children were well received - thank you. We will definitely be back! Thanks again for the wonderful stay. Love The Brown's, Francis and Haynes.
