The barn was lovely and we really enjoyed our stay. The garden was perfect for our 4 little dogs. There were 2 things we were not happy about. The access road was single track and overgrown on each side so the bramble scrapped along our car. Luckily we did not meet another car as they is no passing place. The other is the quality of the beds. They are all very uncomfortable and noisy, old and cheap or both.
Many thanks for your feedback which we have passed on to the owner. The hedgerows are only cut (by the local farmer whose land this falls within) when the nesting season is finished. This is the law and the very reason there is so much wildlife around the barn. One of the bed frames is old. It is in fact over one hundred years old (an antique). All of the other mattresses are modern and of good quality. Beds can be a subjective issue and it is sometimes difficult to meet the needs of all preferences. We are pleased however that you enjoyed your stay and that your four little dogs did too. From the Toad Hall Team

Very enjoyable stay. Lovely cottage, very friendly and helpful owners.
The welcome was lovely with hot cross buns, Easter decorations and drinks waiting for us it was the best property we have stayed in around the area and we holiday in this area twice a year and have done for some years now. Really loved the garden and the house it was so peaceful.
We thoroughly enjoyed the property. It was great for the 3 dogs we had with us to be able to run around the fields attached to the barn. It was very nice to have the Christmas tree and the other decorations, very tasteful and stylish.
The bottle of bubbly and the scones and jam were a very nice surprise.
We had a wonderful stay. The location was good for exploring Devon and Cornwall. Kerry was very welcoming and on hand if we needed anything at all. The surroundings and gardens are lovely with shops/pubs and bakery's around a mile down the round.
Scissor Beam is a fabulous holiday barn, everything you need is there we just got back a couple of days ago. We were a family of adults staying in the location due to a family wedding being held at Wembury Church and the barn was within easy distance from this and the hotel were the reception was held. It is set in a rural area and a little off the beaten path, but if you want plenty of space and a great comfortable place to stay this is for you. It is about 10 mins away from the the nearest beach which is in Wembury and great for children who want to just be left to play, with rock pooling etc. We were a little unfortunate with the weather, but it didn't deter us going for cliff top walks and travelling a little further a field to Totnes which is a lovely town, offering a Castle and an Old Court house Guild Hall ith great history, lots of lovely tea rooms, plenty of things to do there. If you have a family with young children they will love Scissor Beam, as there is lots of outdoor space for them to play in, also lots of family board games should the weather turn inclement or for a nice cosy night it. The local town of Elburton, has a Co op shop, a Chinese Takeaway an Indian Takeaway, a small pub, Post Office so you are not too out on a limb, the Indian Takeaway was great. The taxi firms are prompt and efficient, We ate ate the Foxhound in Brixton about 8 mins away if that which was superb ample size portions and delicious. A little further a field was the Ship Inn in Noss Mayo which looks over the estuary Can't recommend this Barn enough the owners are just next door and very welcoming and willing to help. Try it you won't be disappointed.
would just like to thank kerry for such a warm welcome and wonderful scones and jam ,clotted cream etc may we take this opportunity to say what a wonderful cottage you have it was spotless we had a wonderful time we hope to see you again evans family
