Solstice is a charming, attractive cottage dating back to the 1800s which is tucked away within the centre of the delightful South Hams village of Blackawton in South Devon. Much of the area surrounding the village is part of South Devon’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty depicting rolling countryside, rugged cliffs, shingle beaches and sandy coves. Blackawton is a delightful, unspoilt village which has a genuine community ambience and is also home to one locally renowned pub and a well stocked community shop. The nearest beach at Strete Gate is only 5 miles away, the popular maritime town of Dartmouth and the famous stretch of coast between Slapton and Torcross are 6 miles away, and Woodlands Adventure Park which is a family favourite is only a mile away.
Solstice has been sympathetically restored whilst retaining character features such as an inglenook fireplace with wood stove, beamed ceilings and slate floors; and yet it provides amenities to meet and exceed modern day expectations to include a well equipped kitchen with range oven, two bathrooms and a lovely sunny garden. Solstice won’t fail to delight in offering homely and comfortable accommodation for both couples and families alike.
Front door opens into hallway. Door into superb beamed living area. Lounge area with two sofas, one chair, wood burning stove, feature stained glass window, LED HD internet TV and DVD player. Archway into spacious kitchen dining room. Dining area with table to comfortably accommodate 4. A traditionally designed modern kitchen boasts an electric range oven with two ovens, separate grill and 5 hob plates, microwave, fridge freezer, washing machine and is equipped with beautiful vintage crockery. Back door opens onto rear patio and garden beyond. No more comments just booked with you again ..
Although the £5 voucher for the village shop was useful,we would have preferred some milk in the fridge, the shop was closed when we arrived which meant a trip in to Dartmouth before we could have a hot drink
We are delighted you enjoyed your stay at Solstice. We have passed your comments onto the owners who have informed us that they leave the £5 voucher instead of foodstuffs due to the wide variety of dietary preferences and requirements, the voucher also helps support the Blackawton Community Shop. The cleaner is more than happy to shop for guests prior to their arrival if they would like milk/etc in the fridge so please do feel free to ask at the time of booking. We hope to welcome you back to Solstice again in the future.

If you want a quiet and relaxing holiday with good access to most places of interest in the South Hams area, the village of Blackawton is the ideal place to stay.
This is our first experience of dealing with Toad Hall Cottages. Communication has been excellent, efficient, friendly and very accommodating. The accommodation is of a high standard with modern facilities and equipment. Clear and detailed instructions are made available for the guests plus a re-assurance that all the safety checks for rented properties have been made and are up to date. It is certainly a service that we will use again.
We had a lovely Christmas week in Solstice. Very cosy and lovely comfortable beds. Large cooker was great. Excellent meal at the Normandy and locals in pub very friendly. The caretaker was fabulous.

Solstice is a really lovely cottage. The standard of the interiors and kitchen equpitment is very high. We stayed there for a week with our 11 month old son and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location is great for exploring Devon and the village of Blackawton is great. Good pub, community shop and kids playground. Everything you need for a lovely family holiday.
