Stable Cottage is a truly charming cottage, tucked beneath the ancient 11th Century walls of the historic Totnes Castle. Boasting many character features including gorgeous sash windows and a cosy wood burner this is the perfect choice for both couples and families alike. The open plan living space on the ground floor is ideal for coming together after a day out exploring. On the first floor there is a beautiful master bedroom alongside the family bathroom, and a single bedroom with a quirky boat bed. From this room stairs lead up to the extremely spacious twin bedroom on the top floor complete with antique sleigh beds and an unrivalled view of the Totnes castle from its window.
Situated on a quiet lane branching off the High Street, the cottage is just a few yards from everything Totnes has to offer. With its archetypal crooked, narrow lanes and quaint cottages, Totnes has a slightly bohemian air, with lots of tempting delicatessens, independent shops and boutiques. Also famed for its green values, you’ll find a choice of vegetarian and whole food cafés, along with some fantastic foodie restaurants. There’s a special buzz in the air on market days (Friday’s and Saturdays) and in the market square you will find a choice of food, gifts, antiques and much more.
Stable Cottage is also within a 10-minute walk of the Totnes train station served directly from London Paddington. If you can tear yourself away from Totnes there are plenty of other places of interest including the riverside villages of Dittisham and Stoke Gabriel, the yachting ports of Dartmouth and Salcombe and an abundance of stunning beaches and coves. For walkers the South West Coastal Path and Dartmoor are also within easy reach.
Front door to porch area with hanging hooks and door to the open plan living space. Sitting area with two sofas, two armchairs, wood burner, Freeview TV and DVD player. Dining area with table to seat 5. Kitchen area with oak work tops, ceramic hob, built-under oven, integrated fridge/freezer, microwave and washer/dryer. First floor: Most attractive double bedroom, 5ft bed and fitted cupboards. Adjacent family bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. Pretty single bedroom with 3ft boat bed, fitted cupboard and open plan stairs to the second floor. Top floor: Spacious attic twin bedroom with two antique 3ft sleigh beds, desk and wall mounted feature model ships and large window with superb views of Totnes Castle.
The cottage fronts onto a quiet narrow lane, Castle Street. A few steps from the cottage a path leads up to the Castle and precincts that include large tree lined lawns with benches, an ideal spot for picnics or a glass of wine.

Perfect for our requirements
Good location, very comfortable with everything we needed. The owners telephone call a few days before we left was very kind and thoughtful, giving us very useful information about our arrival etc. etc.
Yes, we had a lovely time. Even though Stable Cottage wasn't our first choice we were very happy
We had a fantastic week with so much to do, and Totnes is a very lively vibrant town. The Cott Inn is a very good place to eat at, also Pie Street. ,,
Cottage was well equipped and great location. Enjoyed our stay very much. Thanks
We loved the cottage and are very grateful to Mrs. Jebb for her support throughout our stay. She answered all questions via email within minutes. And of course, we loved her banana bread which was waiting for us upon arrival. The bottle of wine was also a thoughtful touch. It was very helpful to have the key behind the window book which gave 4 people the freedom to come and go without worrying about keys. The cottage is clean, spacious, wonderfully located, comfortable, with lots of light for reading and extra towels - things that a tired traveler appreciates. Many thanks !
We had a brilliant stay. The location is fantastic and the cottage is lovely. Thank you
Stable cottage was superb. I'm just sorry that my partner Sue wasn't there to enjoy such a lovely cottage.
The little extras were really appreciated. Flowers, welcome biscuits and wine etc - so thoughtful.
Hi Jeni and Stuart, I can honestly say that this is easily the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in! You thought of everything and the decor was superb!
We are delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay at Stable Cottage and look forward to welcoming you back very soon! Best wishes, The Toad Hall Team.

Wonderful cottage with great charm in a fabulous location. Would definitely recommend. A new clothes airer would be a welcome addition - for those who do not wish to leave the tumble dryer on whilst out of the property.

Lovely well equipped cottage in a fantastic Totnes location in the heart of a really happening town. We came here as our first holiday as a family of four, with our three month old and our parents joined us for a couple of nights. We liked the little touches, wine and herbs and the helpful information folder. We loved Totnes and the South Hams area and felt there is so much more than we could fit into a week! Thank you and we will be back!
House is of very high standard, and has all mod cons. Owner was very helpful and very kind, with all questions and queries, which was really helpful as we travelled from abroad to be there. I was given detailed instruction on how to get there (very important with one way system), where to find the keys, parking permit, and even had a fresh pint of milk in the fridge, plus a cake, on day of arrival
Brilliant location a short stroll from Totnes High St. with its vibrant shops and cafes and unique atmosphere
Best holiday for awhile, easy to book, good communication, delightful cottage. Thank you.
The Cottage is really well equipped and very comfortable. The owner had very thoughtfully decorated it for us so it was really Christmassy and welcoming, such a nice touch and much appreciated by us all.
We stayed with our family of grown up teens and we all loved the cottage which had every possible comfort and plenty of character. We found the location was very convenient for shops, places to eat and the train station, which we used for lots of days out as we holidayed without a car. The owners are very kind and helpful and the cottage is both beautiful and homely.
Excellent place to stay, the cottage was a home from home, very comfortable in every respect and well equipped especially with an 18 month old baby. The owner called us a few times to confirm our stay, arrival etc and was very hospitable and professional, we also loved totnes and would definitely stay at stables cottages again.
